Breaking down the NFL Draft this week with the Los Angeles Times' Sam Farmer who does a mock draft with beat writers from all the teams and it's usually one of the most accurate prognostications out there.
Carlos Gomez, who has been struggling, delivers a 2-run walk-off homerun for the Rays as they sweep the Twins for the first time at Tropicana Field. It was quite the celebration and homerun trot as it was his first career walk-off hit. Plus the Lightning beat the Devils on Saturday to win the series 4-1 and now wait to see if they'll play Boston or Toronto in the next round, and it's just 3 days until the NFL Draft and the Bucs are picking 7th.
The NFL did the Buccaneers no favors with their opening 3 games of the 2018 schedule at New Orleans and home against Philadelphia and Pittsburgh making an 0-3 start possible, plus linebacker Kendall Beckwith broke his ankle and had surgery so his status for the start of the season is in question. Nikita Kucherov will not be suspended for his hit on Sami Vatanen as the Lightning look to win the series on Saturday and the Rays face off vs. the Twins with Chris Archer on the mound and they looking for more out of him
Nikita Kucherov scores two goals and delivered some big hits at the Lightning beat the Devils 3-1 to take a 3-1 series lead in a game that was very physical from the Bolts. The Rays beat the Rangers to win a series at home as Jake Faria pitches well and Alex Colome had some shaky moments, plus the Bucs schedule will be released on Thursday and we'll hear from Jason Licht about next week's NFL Draft.
The Lightning are preparing for Game 4 of their first round matchup with the Devils and Tom Jones joins us to break it down, the Rays lose to the Rangers 7-2 as Yonny Chirinos is roughed up, the Bucs pick up the 5th year option on QB Jameis Winston, and Florida State QB Deondre Francois was suspected of intending to sell marijuana but the search warrant didn't turn up enough evidence.
The Tampa Bay Lightning lose to the New Jersey Devils 5-2 after taking the lead early in the 3rd period but the number of penalties they took caught up to them and cost the game, the Rays break out the lumber beating the Rangers 8-4 behind Blake Snell pitching into the 7th inning allowing only 1 run and no walks, and the Bucs players returned to One Buc Place on Monday for OTAs including WR Desean Jackson.
The Tampa Bay Lightning have taken a 2-0 series lead as they head to New Jersey for Game 3 and they may be without Ryan Callahan and Dan Girardi who left Game 2 with injuries, and they may face a new goaltender for the Devils. Plus the Rays get swept by the Phillies at Tropicana Field but the bigger loss may be Kevin Kiermaier who sprained his thumb and may miss significant time for the 3rd straight season.
We have missed the NHL Playoffs in Tampa Bay and the Lightning didn't disappoint in Game 1 as they defeated the New Jersey Devils 5-2 in their first playoff game in nearly 2 years. Alex Killorn, Tyler Johnson, Ondrej Palat and Yanni Gourde were fantastic as the Lightning carried play but once again the penalty kill tripped them up leading to goals. Tampa Bay will host game 2 on Saturday, meanwhile the Rays return to the Trop tonight for a series vs. the Phillies and it seems like they have been on the road for a long time, plus Colin Kaepernick's workout with the Seahawks has been cancelled.
We break down Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Playoffs for the Tampa Bay Lightning vs the New Jersey Devils with Fox Sports' Bobby 'The Chief' Taylor as we discuss Andrei Vasilevskiy, Steven Stamkos, the Penalty Kill, and more. Plus the Rays blow a 1-run lead in the 8th and lose the series finale to the White Sox and the Bucs preseason schedule is out including joint practices with Marcus Mariotta and the Tennessee Titans.
The Tampa Bay Lightning start the Stanley Cup Playoffs on Thursday and we have the Tampa Bay Times' Debby Downer, Tom Jones, to break the series down for you and the Rays are now streaking having won two in a row in Chicago but once again it didn't come without 9th inning drama from Alex Colome.
The Tampa Bay Rays finally win their second game of the season but not without some drama, and snow, plus the Lightning begin preparations to face the New Jersey Devils in the first round of the playoffs and their captain Steven Stamkos was back on the ice after missing the last 3 games, meanwhile you'll hear from East Lake Grad Mason Cole as he is preparing for the NFL draft.
The Tampa Bay Lightning are Eastern Conference and Atlantic Division Champs for the first time since 2003-04 as the Stinkin' Panthers beat the Boston Bruins again. The Bolts will face the New Jersey Devils beginning on Thursday in round 1 of the playoffs. Plus the Rays lose again to Boston, this time blowing a 7-2 lead in the 8th inning as Matt Andriese and Alex Colome can't hold it and unlikable Patrick Reed wins the Masters.
The Rays lose by giving up a 2-run lead in the 9th as Alex Colome struggled after not pitching for a week. Tampa Bay is struggling offensively, especially their 3 big hitters in Kevin Kiermaier, Wilson Ramos and Carlos Gomez as they've scored 15 runs in 7 games. Plus if Penn State running back Saquon Barkley is available with the 7th pick in the NFL Draft, should the Bucs take him? Also the Lightning are back in first place thanks to the Panthers and a local girl helps prevent a shooting.
We answer your questions on today's podcast including the one word to describe the Rays season thus far, what will the Bucs do in the draft, has your outlook on the Lightning changed after the Bruins win and more on Sports Day Tampa Bay with Rick Stroud.
