Episode 171: Know when it's time to start a new adventure - Lauren Schelfhaudt & Jean Paulovich | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:44:28

Many of us are devoted to our careers. But a number of us will feel the need to open a new chapter in our lives, and set off on a vastly different path. Facing such a moment can be scary. And if that thought hits close to home, then this episode's for you! My guests today have a very interesting story. They were both professional ballroom dancers who had won both US and World Championship titles. But after 20 + years of dancing, which involved strenuous training and multiple competitions, they decided it was time to make a huge life change. They dove deep into the world of coffee roasting, and ended up building a coffee business. And in 2018, they officially launched Dancing Ox Coffee Roasters. Their coffee, which is mainly dance-themed, is available online, and also in cafes, restaurants, and bars all around the US. And yes, they do make a tango-themed coffee, in case you were wondering. Let's meet Lauren Schelfhaudt and Jean Paulovich... More on Lauren and Jean (and Dancing Ox) here: Website: https://www.dancingoxcoffee.com/ Want to help support Joe's Tango Podcast?  Episode 167: Making a splash - Yolanda Rossi | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:47:50

The answers to many of our tango questions are simple to understand...yet challenging to follow through on. Let's keep that in mind as we get into today's episode. My guest is originally from Buenos Aires, but is now based in Los Angeles, CA. She is a former ballet and flamenco dancer, but lucky for us she stuck with tango because she ended up pioneering much of LA's tango scene. In 1993 she produced and designed the live Las Vegas show, "Viva Tango," which involved 37 artists, musicians, dancers, and singers. She has also been involved with a number of other prominent tango shows, and has worked with dozens of internationally acclaimed figures in the world of tango. As a promoter, she really helped spark tango's growth in southern California by bringing in a number of famous guest instructors, such as Carlos Gavito, Marcela Duran, Osvaldo Zotto, Natalia Hills, and many, many others!  On top of that, today's guest has been an instructor in Glendale, CA since 2002. She also established a major line of tango apparel, as well as her own line of tango shoes. Let's meet Yolanda Rossi...
