Having not one, but two LAN events this weekend meant no rest for the wicked (and obviously we are extremely wicked). With events in Australia and France, it was pretty much round-the-clock action and a lot of it was pretty hype. IEM Sydney saw the really big names battle it out, while DreamHack Tours gave some of the teams still finding their footing a chance to get some LAN experience. Even outside the LAN events there was a lot going on. More big orgs signed academy teams, roster changes hit a relatively new team, and there’s a new CS:GO reality show to check out. Fortunately we have managed to drag ourselves away from Gamerz in order to recap all the major events from the last week.

Predictions IEM Sydney And DreamHack Tours | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:05:41

This week is somewhat of an anomaly in the world of CS:GO, as we have not one pretty big LAN event, but two. On one side of the world we have the Intel Extreme Masters Sydney event where the likes of Astralis, FaZe and SK are competing for a share of $200,000. Then all the way back in Europe we have DreamHack Tours, which has a $100,000 prize pool and some more big names such as NaVi, G2 and Mouz. With big name teams split across the two events picking which one to watch is not an easy choice. Fortunately time difference and slightly different dates mean it will be pretty easy to keep up with all of the action from both events. For those of you who simply cannot get enough pro CS, this weekend will be a treat. Of course before you go into a CS marathon you need to know who has a chance at each event, and that is where we come in.

If you want peak performance in CS:GO, then it’s important to think about what you’re putting into your body as well as your PC case. There are lots of ways to maintain sharpness, but make sure you’re consuming things in sensible moderation and that you’re taking time away from the screen as well. Not every player needs a gym regime like pashaBiceps, but fresh air and movement can have just as positive an effect on your AWP flicks as another slug of soda. As in so many things, balance is the key.

Pretty much every other major esport had some kind of massive event this week, so you could be forgiven for not keeping up with competitive Counter-Strike. Sure, we had a pretty big LAN with DreamHack Austin, but it wasn’t a particularly star-studded field, with just one of the teams who made it to the last eight of the ELEAGUE Major in attendance. Outside of DreamHack, things were relatively quiet. ECS and the ESL Pro League continued, with a few shock results and more than a few unbelievable plays. There was some drama, as usual, and Ninjas in Pyjamas continue to be incredibly unpredictable. In fact, that could be a new section for TLDW: “Were NiP good or bad this week?”
