Another week and another episode of Throttled is here for your listening pleasure. For the second week in a row technology plays the role of our evil mistress and just won’t cooperate. All is well however and we have a great show for you to listen to. We start off the show by talking about our rides this week and move into the Motorcycle Podcaster’s Challenge. You have once again tuned into the Throttled Podcast. Thanks for coming back. Kevin discusses this past weeks (Father’s Day) riding. Larry talks about his ride to Rio Vista, ferries / Andrus Island, Isleton and Locke Gear Review: Kevin – Review Sands 2 Pants Larry – Discusses the finer points of his new helmet the HJC IS Max 2 Looking for modular with headset to work with J&M transceiver. * Sizing first problem * Medium felt too small – initially couldn’t get chin piece over chin, went back and realize I didn’t pull hard enough to force my head into the crown of the helmet. When I did, it still felt tight, with chin bar very close to mouth, hardly room for a boom mike * Large felt ok in crown, but barely tight around chin pads.  Eventually got them to extend trial period and ordered chin pads from Revzilla from the XS helmets. That seemed to work ok. I figure if the chin pads eventually compress too much, I can order another set. * Getting headset to work with phone/gps/transceiver * Helmet itself appears relatively well made. Locking mechanism on chin bar appears fairly substantial. DOT approved. Liners all removable (unlike my Shoei). Has internal sun visor. External visor is “pin lock ready” * Ventilation is good, better than the Shoei, and easy to change wearing gloves. * Helmet is surprisingly quiet at speed, Moreso than the Shoei Qwest       to my impression, and tends to buffet a little less than the Shoei at 75+ speeds on my Switchback with       a 20 ” windscreen. * Weight is about average, at 3lbs, 14 oz. for the medium, though lighter than other inexpensive modulars.   Sunscreen is rather lightly tinted, and I have ended up preferring sunglasses. The sunscreen will lower over glasses with plenty of clearance, and there is a groove in the padding for glasses which makes it much more comfortable to use sunglasses. All in all, I’m pretty pleased with it. Larry – Larry tells us about his riding this past week as well as running over his sportster and then selling it. Ok so maybe he didn’t run over it but he did hit it with his car and knocked it over. Retread: Larry gives us a review of his switchback…hey guess what he likes it. Handles well, lighter and more forgiving than the big baggers, Harley’s great low center of gravity. Same engine should provide better acceleration and economy than with big baggers.. Fuel gauge (fairly accurate) as well as light Decent ride, comfortable seat (upgraded on mine) Footboards are comfortable. Bike fits me great-about 27-28 ” seat height Ride could be better, have already dragged right footboard, 4.7 gallon tank, neutral can be difficult to find and won’t start if you’re not in neutral. Bags not as large as they look Bike rattles a bit over bumps. Stock engine and exhaust doesn’t snap neck off.   Kevin – Discusses his camping trip   New Topics: What is the market and role for small displacement, cheap, adv and other models?
