Is it a suicide, a murder? At least, its time to get the cops involved. Due to his diligent investigation, Archie has turned up more contacts the dead woman was to have made. Ellen was to purchase medical equipment to have shipped back to her home country. Was she killed over something she bought? More characters, Mr Renfro, and Miss Bennet, have their chance to be interviewed by Nero. Is their involvement in the large medical purchases legitimate? Danger looms for Archie as he finds surprises, and a thump on the head. By now, Nero has enough to figure it out, and the players are rounded up for the big reveal in his office.

Getting into the role play, to help out a client, Marshall Spade humors an old timer who has trouble in Dry Gulch. Hopping into his saddle, and taking the North trail out of town, Sam dresses the part for his cowboy adventure. The ghost town is covered in dust and cobwebs. What can Sam do to help with the robbery of 1894? It turns out that Blackie and his gang have been skulking around town again. The first time in 20 years. The old timer isn’t entirely out of touch as he tunes the dial on his radio set to the likes of Mule Train, and his favorite show, Sagebrush Sandy. Sam has had about enough of the play acting, but it might not be the sultry dame at hand, as it is the sudden ruckus and gun play coming from outside that makes him keep it up. Bodies lay in the street, but there’s hope Sam can save them if medical help comes in time. Gangsters in a back room are exposed as the force behind the strange happenings. ]Fists fly, as truth is revealed about the modern day bank robbery. Stand by for twists and secrets, right up to the end.

Magda Crayle is a piano playing dame who is a missing heiress who recently returned. She has some explaining to do to settle Nero’s mind, as to her motive for returning. Will her schmoozing up to Archie win any points of confidence for Magda? The daughter claims amnesia to explain her spotty memory of where she’s been all these years. A birth mark would clench the deal to identify Magda as the true long lost heiress, as long as Archie can convince her to expose the normally covered up place. If her story proves out, another heir could have motive to murder before a will is changed. The players, and the police are brought together for a big reveal.

Prices and rates are agreed upon, but will this case be one for a place in a cool kennel, or as a dull dud for a doggie Murphy bed? Shadowing his target, Sam reports to his client. Has it all ben a big let down? Still on the trail, because he smells a rat, Sam is able to intervene in a scuffle. However, it doesn’t stop bullets from flying, and a corpse from falling. Feeling like he has been played, Sam confronts his client. Gambling, blackmail, and cover ups all make the scene, and Sam has to cut through the lies. Where will it leave Sam? Details of a murder come to the office of Nero Wolfe. Revenge seems the clear motive for the murder, but the man who is blamed claims that it’s all lies. Time is of the essence, so Archie Goodwin is sent out to do the foot work in gathering clues, talking to the hot dames, and checking on timelines of where everyone involved in the crime was located. Lies abound in the attempt to clear the air over Tom Wilcox. A missing pistol, and threats if Archie doesn’t quit the case only serve to amuse Nero. Does a cover up mean a love affair is at the core of the matter? As Archie combs the scene for clues, gun shots seem to make good on those threats. Nero is sure there’s hidden clues, like a love letter. Where else would you keep hot steamy love letters? In the ice box, of course. There’s plenty to make the motive clear, and more. Dangers, and thumps on the head aren’t over, but it’s time for Nero to gather the players together for the big reveal.

In pursuit, things become curiouser when Tom is said to be dead… for years. Catching up with Tom, Sam learns he was only missing, and came back to rekindle a long lost love. How will Henrietta Turkey, now remarried, take the news? A confrontation is in order, but the body isn’t the one Sam expected to find. The race down the trail of clues begins. Al was a fellow detective who claimed Tom was nuts, but is that enough to have him killed? There’s sure to be gun play before its all over. Is someone trying to kill Tom for insurance money? John Smith and Pocahontas make appearances, as do brass bands, and Thanksgiving feasts. Though Nero is far from interested in taking on a new case, or leaving the comforts of home, Archie responds to a phone call. Jenkins is a little, dried up, old man who delivers a letter, but it hasn’t come from the person it was addressed by. Archie seems to have been set on a wild goose chase. Has it all been a ruse to get Archie on the scene to witness a crime? Investigation turns up a plot of poisoning. A jealous lover, ill feelings from a step son, and the mystery of who sent those notes. All Archie can do is wait, stay in touch with Nero, and be alert for clues. Despite having Archie on hand, Edith is poisoned, and smoke screens and accusations fly. With Nero now on hand, clues and crime details are reviewed with the cops. With the pressure turned up, a killer soon shows their hand. Later, Nero produces the hard proof to blow the lid off the mystery, and solve the crime. The answer is in the notes, and who wrote them, and of course in the type writer ribbon.

Arthur Murrow is an author who needs the chair bound detective, Nero Wolfe, to leave his orchids and beer, and come to his office. Nero gripes about the inconvenience of it all, Archie checks out the cute elevator operator, but when they arrive in the office, they find that Arthur Murrow has a knife in his back. As clues and possible motives are discussed with the cops, Nero still doesn’t quite have enough to go on, in figuring this mystery out. Freeing the matter from his mind, Nero is glad to leave the matter to the police, while he returns to his cozy apartment, which he should never have left. Archie stays on to help the police with the footwork of the investigation. As they linger, a new player enters the scene. Miss Roberts seems surprised to hear of the death of Arthur. What advice will come from a phone call to update Nero on the developments? Archie reviews all he knows thus far about who was where, and when. Is there a clear motive? Twists keep coming as Archie keeps digging up clues. A fiancee, a missing novel manuscript, and a possible loss of a publishing deal. Nero thinks that the one who knew what the missing novel is about is the killer. But who might that be? Nero’s trap should do the trick for the big reveal.

The case of contradictions gets a big start with the changing weather. A dame needs to hire Sam in regards to her fiancee, Ben Comiski. He is being held in jail for robbery. The evidence is going against him, but Ben doesn’t look the part of a common thief. Is he responsible for a rash of robberies, or just taking the fall for someone? At the Comiski home, Sam finds more contradictions. A good son, and a bad son. How is Sam’s client taking the situation of her fiancee being indicted? Her suicide attempt incites Sam to look more into her background. Might the suicide actually be a murder attempt? And who would want her dead? A character known as the Ice Man, with flashy jewelry is behind the matter. Sam digs into him to see how much he may be behind. Fists fly as Sam gets to the truth. Nero has long lost interest in the matter by the time the cops come calling. The cops turn out to be kidnappers who take Archie and the doc to a remote place in the country. The situation could be a set up by a criminal who Nero sent up to the big house in the past. Back home, Archie and the doc review the events with Nero. What’s the next move? Archie does what he does best by doing the footwork, and finding clues. What kind of criminal leaves behind incriminating recordings? Its enough for Archie to believe that Gloria is tied in with the abductors. Nero knows how to find the crooks, and has the cops alerted. He actually goes with Archie for the confrontation. The sanitarium in the country seems to hold complicated mysteries, but Nero isn’t surprised, and has the whole story ready for the cops when they arrive.

Watson excerises hiss powers of observation, and deduction on a box of cigars, then it’s off to investigate a rash of murder. Holmes interviews people on the street about the killed Hindu tobaccanists. Patterns are detected, along with a strong willed girl, and dealings with the real estate business. Twists in the mystery are examined, and unfurled as Holmes tracks down all the clues. Do you have it figured out yet? The answer will be presented by Holmes, in all it’s splendor and glory. Stand by for the commercial to buy time for your brain to digest it all. In the aftermath, Watson introduces the show for next week, and urges listeners to buy war bonds. Candy smells a rat, and keeps poking around for more clues. The orchestra is about to perform once again, and with her trap set, Candy gets ready to catch the saboteur. Disaster strikes when The orchestra blows another sour note, but does Candy have the answer for it? A scream rings out, the body of the suspicious band member is found, and it’s time to get the cops on the job. Meanwhile, the key to the murder, and the mystery still lays in how the band had been tricked into playing the wrong notes. As Candy blows the top off the mystery, the killer shows his hand. Interviewing others who were at the party, Nero gathers information, and verifies details. A writer from a magazine arrives, and wants to write about Nero. Archie doesn’t think its a good idea, but Nero is fascinated in her work. Developments take place to cause Nero to drop the writer, but the cute honey blonde now has a date with Archie. Archie finds out what Nero already knows. Valerie is a phonie, and was also at the party. What other sneaky secrets might the fake magazine writer, Valerie be hiding? Nero is ready to call the police in for the big reveal. All the party guests are gathered, and the details are laid bare.

A fine crew stands by, while their sailing vessel is made ready. Is there a problem with it? Will the ship ever fulfill the dreams of carrying cargo to the far reaches of the Roman Empire? An accident finds the strong man of Ephraim on his sick bed. His old friend, Urriah comes to cheer him up. Humbled, and not able to walk, the proud man wants only to bathe in his own pity party. Encouraged by his friend, and his wife, Miriam, Ephraim agrees to journey to see the Master. His belief is further bolstered when he hears the songs of others who are sick or disabled, who also seek the Master’s healing touch. Pride and disbelief are cast aside, but will healing come? Lessons still need to be learned on the bravery required in being meek. Weakness is mistaken for meekness, and bitterness rages through Ephraim. Can Ephraim be convinced he can still command his ship from port. Why does he think he needs to sail on it to benefit from his investment in it? He has to learn that sometimes greater strength is needed in dealing with disability, than in having it taken away. Audio cuts off as he is coming to grips with his new station in life, and staying in control of his shipping business. .

Sam is in a grumpy mood, as he dishes out his report to his secretary, Effie Perine. A client enters, who wants to redecorate, and make improvements to the office. The actor, Fritz, doesn’t impress Sam much. What does he propose anyway, how can he help Sam? The only redeeming quality is the promise of a job, guarding a diamond. All Sam has to do is wear a rabbit suit. At the mansion on the hill, Flopsy and Mopsy, alias Sam and Fritz, mingle at the costume party. Though he shouldn’t be, Sam recognizes that he has been made as a detective. Meanwhile, Fritz is eating up the attention from the costumed damsels. Of course, when the time comes for awarding the prize, and presenting the jewels, they are missing from the safe. Besides the Flopsie, and Mopsie, the party had also had a Cottontail. One who had also absconded with the jewels, after knocking the Pickle King on the hed. The investigation begins in earnest as Sam tries to figure who was where, when they were there, and where the jewels might have been hidden in some of the skimpy costumes. The Pickle King, Mr Montague, is tired of being rich, tired of the jewels and trappings. He would rather the jewels not be found.
