As rains poured, marching practice was washed out for the Famous Maroon Band. Yard lines became mud holes on the natural grass band surface, so they looked for greener, drier pastures. In stepped Starkville High School, followed by football coach Dan Mullen offering the football facility to the FMB for their preseason work with gameday just around the corner. Two iconic radio broadcasters at Mississippi State - Jim Ellis and John Correro - decided to step away from the mic during football and basketball season, after almost 40 years together broadcasting Bulldog sporting events. When that decision was reached this spring, John Cohen and Learfield began scouring the country for their replacements. Neil Price, a Tennessee native who'd been working for the Kentucky Wildcats on the radio the past 12 years, comes to Starkville as the new "voice of the Bulldogs". Jay Perry, a Starkville native and Mississippi State graduate, takes over for Correro on the sidelines for Bulldog football radio broadcasts starting this fall. Matt Roberts and Daryl Greenan are the head coaches of Mississippi State's men and women tennis teams, respectively. They're spearheading a combined program that is, collectively, one of the best run and most successful college tennis operations in America. Burke Masters hit a grand slam in the 1990 NCAA regional to propel Mississippi State to a win, and eventually to the College World Series. It's a moment in State history that people still talk about. His life changed in 2002, when he became a Catholic Priest. Currently serving in his hometown near Chicago, he a chaplain for the Chicago Cubs. In this podcast, Masters talks about returning to Starkville for a weekend baseball series, seeing old friends and teammates, and looks back on that heroic at-bat in 1990.

Everett Kennard has been driving the Bulldogs to and fro for over 30 years, as the primary bus driver of Mississippi State. In this podcast, he reflects on his time spent with athletes and coaches, talks about what it's like to spend 80 hours behind the wheel in one trip, and remembers the time they pulled away without one of the baseball team's best players for a trip to LSU. Plus: a recap of MSU baseball's win in the Governor's Cup game.

Dr. Kent Sills is a legendary band director of the "Famous Maroon Band" at Mississippi State University. He spent 30+ years of his life serving at MSU, and during that time his son Allen grew up in Starkville, graduated Valedictorian of Starkville High School, and went to engineering school at State. Following a degree from State, Dr. Allen Sills attended Johns Hopkins in Maryland, and is now a leader in the field of neurosurgery in the United States. In March, Dr. Allen Sills was named the chief medical officer of the NFL. Hear his story, in his own words on this week's Bully Pulpit.

With seconds remaining in overtime versus top-ranked and undefeated - 36-0 - UCONN, senior guard Dominique Dillingham brought the ball up the court, and with less than 10 seconds left, passed to her teammate Morgan William. What happened next made history: William's buzzer-beater fell and Mississippi State defeated UCONN in the Final Four, punching their ticket to the title game.
