The odds for capturing Mewtwo appear to have been lowered, but it’s unclear if it is the normal 3% yet; further investigation is needed. Eevee community day is just around the corner and the boys are talking all about it. Would you rather have a pretty one or a good one? If you want to have a shiny form for all of Eevee’s evolutions you will need to catch a minimum of 9 shiny Eevee during community day. However, if you’ve already used the naming convention there is no way to guarantee a shiny Eevee will evolve into Jolteon, Flareon, or Vaporeon. Niantic let us know that every Eevee and its evolutions will have Last Resort, but we’re not overly impressed with that move; Espeon and Flareon can make it a decent moveset, but that’s about it. There are currently 72 shiny Pokémon available; this community day will bring that amount to 78 (we don’t have Glaceon, Leafeon, or Sylveon yet). According to Niantic, they are still on track to release PvP by the end of the year. Make sure you practice your dodging skills before that since they will become critical for PvP. They talk all about the unique lucky mechanic that’s been added to the game. This mechanic is brand new for Pokémon GO; it has never been in any other Pokémon game before. Lucky Pokémon are obtained via trading and older Pokémon are more likely to be lucky after trading. In addition to having reduced stardust costs, they are guaranteed to have at least 66.7% IVs. The guys discuss a few scenarios where the lucky mechanic is useful, but in general they are unimpressed. Generation 4 appears to be right around the corner, so we discuss some Pokémon that will impact the meta; especially those that evolve from current Pokémon. Registeel is out, so make sure you get the “iron Pokémon” before he goes away. Raikou will be in the research boxes for August, so make sure you get your Thunder Cat while you can. The Walking Dead has come out with their own AR game, so Charles gives a brief overview of it. He thinks it might actually provide Niantic with some competition. Joe is back from GO Fest and had a wonderful weekend if you don’t count his travel woes. GO Fest was a tremendous success; Niantic definitely learned from last year’s mistakes. There weren’t any lines to get into the park, there were very few connection issues, and overall it was a wonderful experience for all. Joe had a few nitpicks, but they were inconsequential. We’re excited to see what Niantic pulls off next year. There was a poster handed out at GO Fest that showed the generation 4 starters; does this mean we’re getting extremely close to generation 4 Pokémon showing up in game? Regice is gone from raids and has been replaced with Registeel. Speaking of raids, some alolan forms are in raids now: Raichu, Marowak, and Exeggcutor. The August community day will feature Eevee and will take place over 2 days, so make sure you get as many shiny Eevee as you can. Niantic has acquired Seismic Games; how will this impact Pokémon GO?
