Podcast - She Did It Her Way

As a young girl growing up in a small town in Oklahoma, Whitney Reynolds envisioned making a difference through her voice. Her journey to become a talk show host picked up in NY with a homemade talk show sign and an elevator rendezvous with a Good Morning America cameraman. She interned for Good Morning America after graduating from Baylor University and moved to Texas to work as a morning anchor for a local news station. On weekends she hosted her own online “Weekends With Whitney” talk show to stay relevant, and decided to skip the corporate news route and go her own way. Now, Whitney is the host of The Whitney Reynolds Show on PBS, as well as owns her own jewelry line called Accessory Mercado.

Jessica Rhodes started her career going door to door, fundraising for a non-profit. However, she knew that it was time to leave because of her decision to have children and stay at home. She may have given up on that job, but she couldn’t give up on work. Her dad, and fellow entrepreneur introduced her to the world of virtual assisting and from there, she created her own business Interview Connections, a guest booking service for podcast and internet radio shows. After delving into the up and coming world of podcast, she decided to make her own show Rhodes To Success, as well as host Interview Connections TV and co-host the Podcast Producers.

Forbes Riley grew up in Long Island as an awkward child, overweight, with braces and one goal: to be anyone else but herself. That goal changed after she dreamed of being on the movie and TV screen, believed she could do it and achieved it. Today, Forbes is a $2 billion dollar spokeswoman, entrepreneur, creator of the SpinGym and National Fitness Hall of Fame Inductee. Forbes is the host and Executive Producer at “Forbes Living”, a show that is determined to find the next great idea.

For 11 years Ashlee Piper worked as a political strategist for high level politicians and government consulting firms in Chicago. She enjoyed creating strategies for campaigns, but wanted to contribute to a broader purpose, than simply consulting politicians. After carefully creating a game plan to leave her job, she decided to go off on her own and take her interest in animal rights, environmental stewardship, and vegans to try and fulfill that broader purpose she had been dreaming of. She created The Little Foxes, where she writes about vegan food,fashion, beauty and other lifestyle topics. Ashlee has also worked as a creative director for Real Home Chef, as a brand strategist, and a badass eco & vegan lifestyle personality on TV and magazines.

Sonia Thompson is a successful business coach that helps entrepreneurs build their business, step by step. Ever since her teens, she had always wanted to have her own business. After graduating business school, she worked at Johnsons & Johnsons for 9 years. During this time, she became frustrated with small businesses and realized the need for a business coach. This led to her departure from corporate America to help fill the much needed position as a business coach for entrepreneurs to build their dream business, with her own company TRY Business School.

Whitney English is business’s best combination: inventor, investor & entrepreneur. At age 22, she used her earnings from babysitting to start a wholesale stationery company for ten years. Unfortunately, the business failed and she was back to living at home in her parents’ house. Instead of using her time to grieve the death of her business, she used her ingenious skills to come up with the solution to every working woman’s chaotic day, The Day Designer.

Courtney price left her $25 an hour job to help build a startup on Amazon. She had a different idea of how the business from her prior job should be run, so her boss let her go. She lost her passion, income, and had to move back in with her mom. She felt she had reached her all-time low, until her boyfriend gave her the idea and loan to start her own Amazon business. She did not know that by leaving the security of that job, she would find her passion: ecommerce. Today, Courtney owns and runs an ecommerce jewelry business Kinzie Fashion and children’s jewelry line Penny & Piper.
