The Grave Plot Podcast

We now return you to your regularly scheduled program. Octoberama is over (sad face) but The Grave Plot Express cannot be stopped! We're pulling away from the station and making periodic stops before our final destination. All aboard! First stop, Real World Horror. Those exiting here will find a story about a creepy clown doll that its owner just couldn't handle and decided to burden their neighbor with. Next stop, Horror Business. Here you will find yet another remake of Night of the Living Dead, an update on the film adaptation of the novel Clown in a Cornfield, and a story about the video game Dead by Daylight being turned into a comic book series. There is also news on the film Natty Knocks, featuring a who's who of horror actors, and finally a return to the big screen for a prominent actress. Finally, we roll into the last stop that is our film reviews. Up first is the new exorcism film Prey for the Devil, featuring the world's first ever female exorcist, as well as the 2022 re-adaptation of the book "The Hellbound Heart," better known as Hellraiser, featuring the world's first ever female Pinhead. I'm sure this will all go smoothly. We've been referred to as a "train wreck" before but I'm pretty sure that's just a turn of phrase... right?

Happy Halloween! The clock is about to strike midnight on Octoberama 2022 which means it's time to close things out with our annual All Hallow's Eve episode. Today we've got none of that horror business to get in the way of a very delicious treat. We're talking about the latest, and final, installment in the modern-era Halloween trilogy, Halloween Ends, as well as the movie that's got everyone talking, the return of Art the Clown in Terrifier 2. We then talk about multiple small screen adaptations of big screen films, namely Godzilla, Fear, Goosebumps, and The Wicker Man. We then wrap up with a Halloween update to the video game Back 4 Blood. For our witchy reviews, we first look at Sam Raimi's 2009 return to horror Drag Me to Hell. We tell you the good, the bad, and the ugly. We then examine the new film Two Witches, about... two witches. Obviously. It's that time again. The time of year when leaves turn brown, the air gets crisp (well, usually), and pumpkin spice is in everything. That's right, it's time for Octoberama 2022! We also examine Tom Holland's new novelization of Fright Night... f'real, as well as reboots of Magic, Nosferatu, and The Crow. We've got two very different films tonally, but both featuring bloodsuckers. Up first is the dramatic Byzantium, including a clandestine vampire organization tracking down a mother and daughter who could upend their entire master plan. Up next is the much more comedic The Night Watchmen, about four... night watchmen, attempting to do their duty as minimum wage security guards by protecting their coworkers from a gang of undead clowns. We then move on to the hors d'oeuvres, namely a lovely little assortment of Horror Business, including a sequel no one asked for, a spicy anthology film featuring a mix of Latin flavors, and some bite size Huluween treats. Finally you will find a fried remake to The Strangers, as well as a lead in to our main course. That main course, of course, is the film reviews. We start out with Chef Scott Derrickson's take on a classic recipe by Joe Hill, The Blackened Phone - I mean, The Black Phone. We follow that with a playful little dish known as Pearl, which is part of Chef Ti West's X menu. We hope you enjoy your meal. There's no dessert.

Then for our film reviews, we head to a remote castle in Europe to a fancy pants wedding filled with blood sucking vampires with The Invitation. Last, we round things out with some gaming news about the long awaited and long delayed sequel to the 2011 game Dead Island, and a new multiplayer offering based on the cult classic, Killer Klowns from Outer Space.We won't leave you hanging there! We've got two reviews for you! First we have a chat about the Shudder exclusive, Glorious, a touching story about a boy facing the end of the world with his pal, ZE GLORY HOOOOLE! We also discuss Keanu Reeves potentially becoming a serial killer, the cast of Insidious 5, and the latest chapter of the video game Back 4 Blood. For our reviews, we journey back in time to see the Predator's first hunt on earth in Prey. We also talk about They/Them ("They Slash Them"), about the horrors of an LGBTQ+ conversion camp that, oh by the way, also has a slasher stalking around.
