 052 - James Woollard | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 2689

There are so many components that build together to make the perfect concert or sporting atmosphere. Most of the things we’re aware of happen in front of our eyes – a light drizzle leads to someone dropping the ball at a Hawks game. Tyler jumps over his keyboard during a Twenty One Pilots show. A player makes a rad diving play on the beautiful green grass. But the people behind the scenes making sure the lighting is perfect, the sound is great: they’re the unsung spectacle of large scale social emotion. James is the booming voice that steers emotions at CenturyLink Field when Seattle Sounders FC take the pitch.

 051 - DREAMERS - Nick Wold | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 20:38

It was super fun to watch a dude who's been playing music in Brooklyn for a while return home to Seattle, walk through the halls of the radio station with wide eyes, and eventually know that he's living some childhood fantasy just by showing up at The End. Nick Wold came through an awesome music education at Roosevelt High School. He talks about the hard work he put in transitioning from being a jazz saxophonist to a songwriting guitarist. His band DREAMERS are trying turning the past into the future - specifically on their insane website...

 050 - Eric Nakassa | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 33:23

I've been watching the awesome work this dude has been doing on Vine for the last year - now all of a sudden, Eric has over 300k followers on his main account! He's got this amazing, effortless confidence packaged in the softest of speech. It was eye opening to talk to someone who is making a name using 6 second bursts of video as a vehicle. Eric is a special dude, and I'm stoked I got to meet him!

 049 - Houndmouth | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 21:05

When we head to the Olympics of music (an imaginary idea), I want Houndmouth to be one of the bands representing America. They're a rad combo of rock n roll, full of gospel and soul, and just the right amount of holding down that organ chord and letting it sing. Bassist Zak Appleby and drummer Shane Cody are a couple of beer swilling scoundrels that have the charisma of spice pirate and the foul mouths of sailors: they're awesome.

 048 - Kevin Sur - Timber Outdoor Music Festival | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 55:23

What I thought would be talking about how to book a music festival turned into an awesome conversation of about punk rock music and ethics! Man, people like Kevin take me back in time to when I had no money and just did things for the fun of it - instead of having no money and not doing things.... I can't wait for this year's Timber Outdoor Music Festival. The idea of being in nature, yet close to home, with a bunch of artists that just want to appreciate Western Washington alongside the festival goers seems ideal. Let's do this!

 047 - Marco Collins and Marq Evans | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 56:11

I can't imagine what it must be like to have a film made about your life. Marco Collins is a name synonymous with 1077 The End. in the formative days of alternative radio, Marco found himself breaking bands that went on to have huge, sometimes tragic careers. He called The End home back when there wasn't an internet to help you find new music and information about bands. You'd have to listen to a guy like Marco to help shape your taste. His success certainly came with significant challenges, and Marco's story isn't one without struggles and lows. Enter Marq Evans, film director, a man willing to push into Marco's story and find out how it all ties together with Seattle, its past, and to Marco's delight - its future!

 046 - Andy Mininger | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 52:12

Since they first started filming 'The Glamour and the Squalor', Andy has included 1077 The End in the process. It's a documentary about a beloved name in music history, Marco Collins, a former End DJ and member of the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame. I can't recall a time I've had an unpleasant experience with Marco. He's so excited to share information about music and Seattle with everyone, but behind that I know there's a darker side. The film explores both aspects for Marco: the success and his struggles. Andy's job has been to help get that information out of everyone to share with you. No small task.
