This is a big one! I cracked the 45 minute mark with this podcast. There is a reason though, there's a lot in this show with the main feature being an interview with Peter Harback, the co-owner with his wife of Cool Things, a website and retail store that sells "Cool Gadgets for Big Kids" (a toyshop!). Peter offers quite a good insight into his business so I expect you will enjoy this interview. This is a new podcast focusing on website marketing compound effects. It's been a while since I did a solo podcast and for a lot of readers this might be your first taste of my show since Entrepreneur's Journey has grown somewhat in the last month or so, and has some newbie subscribers. I was meaning to have this podcast out to you last week but I had trouble recording it. I thought I would be clever and head outside for some fresh air and go for a walk to my local park and record a podcast there. Well I tried but I just couldn't get through to complete my first outdoor podcast so I postponed it and finally managed to sit down today and make the recording. As I discovered last week while trying to park-cast this topic is a long one so I decided to split it up into two different podcasts on the same topic. I have a rather long podcast today which is generally about choosing an Internet business but I talk a lot around the concept as well. Selecting what project to work towards on the Internet is not a task you should take to lightly but as I mention in the audio it's not something you should analyse for too long either. It's so easy to test on the Internet that often the best form of market research is to create a working business and see what happens. This morning I had a potential client call me. We talked about what he wanted and what he wanted to pay. In the end I had to direct this client to some competing services where he hopefully will find someone that can meet his needs within his conditions. Will has presented seminars on international marketing and online marketing for the Queensland Premier's Department and the Queensland Department of Primary Industries. Ahh, another day another lesson. This podcast, ahh, sorry...this rivercast was recorded using my iRiver iHP-140 MP3 player. Because I couldn't access audioblog.com I had to try something I thought should work - stick my headphone mic into my mp3 player and use it to record an audiocast. You may not realise this but iRiver players are superior to iPods. I'm not joking. In many ways the iPod is beaten in features by competing products but it's winning the marketshare war because of the coolness factor, positioning and branding, which are all thanks to the outstanding marketing campaigns of Apple. I know the iPod engineering is great and it's simplicity is one of the best features, but it has a few shortcomings that had me looking elsewhere for a player. I'm also not one to follow the crowd too so how could I get an iPod. The main reason I chose an iRiver player is the fantastic navigation device which, most importantly is small and separate from the main player AND has a full screen display. This means I never need to look at the main device to navigate tracks so it stays snug in my bag with the small navi clipped to my bag straps or belt for easy access. Anyway the purpose of this post is not to discuss MP3 players, it's about my latest podcast. This podcast is all about blogging and podcasting which are two things I spent some time researching lately because I was not happy with the current systems.
