Todd Tresidder graduated from the University of California at Davis with a B.A. in economics and a passion for creating successful businesses. Today, he provides advanced investment and retirement planning education at FinancialMentor.Com showing you what works, what doesn’t, and why from proven experience. It occurred to him as a young man coming out of college that the homeless people in Santa Monica Park had more freedom than he and his friends had working for “cubicle nation.” That’s when Todd realized that freedom was one of his core values. FinancialMentor.com came about when Todd’s wife challenged him to come up with a way to teach financial skills to the average person. When he launched the site he promised himself he’d take it down if things ever got ugly or he experienced a backlash because of his radical ideas.  Fortunately, the opposite has happened allowing Todd to teach countless people like you and I how to become “terminally wealthy.” The podcast covered a wide range of financial topics like: * Expectancy investing and how traditional passive investing models get it wrong. * The difference between probability and expectancy and why the difference is so important to wealth creation. * The three asset classes you work with in building wealth: 1. business/entrepreneurship 2. real estate 3. paper assets * The principles of risk management and how they apply to the the different asset classes * 2 ways to control your risk in real estate investing: nonrecourse financing, and valuation discipline. * The primary risk management question, “How can I lose money with this? * The importance of making your portfolio risk diverse * How your business is an asset * The two stages of wealth creation and why it’s critical to control your level of spending when building wealth. * The Terminal Wealth Equation * The advantage of self-publishing over traditional publishing * The importance of identifying your values and honoring them with your spending. * How to buy a good motorhome at 30 cents on the dollar * The power of habits in finances and wealth creation Todd also discussed the parable of The Three Blind Men and the Elephant and why it’s so important to understand the complete picture when talking about investing.  He teaches his coaching clients a process he calls 7 Steps to 7 Figures.  It’s a complete course on wealth creation that takes six to nine months to finish.  Todd is building a course for the general public he hopes to have available by the end of 2016. That means working hard, studying hard, and putting in the time, energy and effort in your work to become the best you can be. * Shahab’s inspiring philosophy on hard work and practice: “The more you sweat in advance, the less you will sweat on the stage.” * Some of Shahab’s favorite authors include Jack Canfield, Brian Tracy, Tim Ferriss, Tony Robbins, Wayne Dyer, Malcolm Gladwell. Shelley Hitz is the bestselling author of more than 40 books including Self-Publishing Books 101: A Step-by-Step Guide to publishing Your Book in Multiple Formats. Shelley is the founder of Author Audience Academy and TrainingAuthors.com where she teaches authors how to write, self-publish and market their books. Shelley never really wanted to be an author. She published her first book in 2008 as a resource for her speaking business. In 2011 she quit her job as a physical therapist to go on the road with her husband, who was a professional speaker, and join him in the family business. They rented out their home, got an RV and started traveling the country to live their dream. As it turned out, they decided to do this the year the speaking gigs dried up. Unemployed, unable to go home because they’d rented out their house, Shelley had to find something to do with her time that would help them make the income they needed. That’s when she got an email in January 2012 about a Kindle publishing course, and the rest as they say, is history. Over the next year Shelley published 23 books on Amazon! This interview is jampacked with information. (You can also use dictation software.) * Track everything: environment, time of day, mood, how you are writing your book (speaking it, writing it longhand, typing it.) * After a week or so you should start to see patterns. You can use this information to help you be more productive. * Anything you measure is going to get better. * Why tracking for a short period of time may be better than tracking indefinitely. * How tracking what you do gives you insights into your own process * Avoid the pitfall of becoming addicted to learning. * The 80/20 rule: 20% of your efforts will produce 80% of your results. If your audience knows enough about your books and what you do, and your product solves a problem for them, they will buy your books. * Let your personality into your marketing. * Evergreen marketing: you do the work once and it keeps working for you forever. * The importance of autoresponders. * How to write an Evergreen email series for your autoresponder. * How to use your blog posts in email marketing. * Evergreen tweets and posts. * The value of leveraging online marketing tools.

The AIDA Formula for copywriting Attention Grab the reader’s attention right away from the very first sentence. Interest Get the reader interested by showing them clearly how your book / profile / product / service is unique and different from anything or anyone else in the world. Be unique! But don’t just be unique – prove it with the language you use. Desire People want results, not books or products or services. They want RESULTS. So tell them exactly what results they’ll get when they buy your book or product. Explain the features AND the benefits of what you offer so readers can see immediately what they will get when they make the decision to buy from you. Action Ask people to buy! The biggest mistake you can make is not asking. In your book description, in your emails, on your website…  always guide readers to take action and buy your book. If you don’t ask, they can’t say “yes!” Patrick mentioned the Kopywriting Kourse from AppSumo which helped him become a better writer and marketer. Patrick recommends workflowy for keeping track of projects and ideas. Learn more about Patrick and connect with him at patrickkingconsulting.com

In today’s show, Billy shares some brilliant ideas for any author, entrepreneur or artist who wants to create a profitable business and avoid one of the biggest mistakes for a startup: starting a business that has no hope of profitability. Here are some of the golden nuggets of wisdom Billy shares in this interview: * Billy’s unique model for market research that will show you exactly where the opportunities are in any market, and how to take advantage of those opportunities in a way that adds massive value to your customers (and therefore creates a highly profitable business). * How to calculate EV (Expected Value) and predict how much revenue and profit your business idea can bring in before you start, so you can avoid wasting money investing in an unprofitable business idea. * How Billy used his market research and EV models to create one of the top blogs for entrepreneurs at foreverjobless.com (and how he regularly gets hundreds of comments from visitors whenever he posts a new blog post). * What the Forever Jobless Incubator is, and how it can help you start your business and minimize your risk of failure. You’ll also learn about Billy’s four-step process for creating a profitable business: 1) The Idea Phase This is where you come up with your business ideas, do your market research and find the right opportunity that the market actually wants. 2) The Marketing Phase This is where you figure out exactly how you are going to reach your audience and grow your customer base from day 1. 3) Due Diligence This is where you do some serious detailed research on what the competition is doing, how you can do it better, where mistakes are being made, and what core product features and service features you may want to model to make your customers happy. You’ll also find out exactly how much your competitors are earning, and where those profits are coming from so that you can make sure you nave the right distribution strategy for success. 4. Expected Value This is where you calculate the EV of your business now that you have all the data. You’re not trying to get an exact figure here (as all predictions are inherently flawed), but you want to get a range of revenuers and profits on the high end and on the low end, so that if you choose to pursue the idea, you’ll have a good idea of what your profit potential is before working your butt off to make it happen.
