In this episode, Darren, Matt and Paul take a break from the tales of the old school Legion to talk about the return of the original Legion to current DCU Continuity. There’s lots to talk about and a whole lot of heroes on every page. Also in this episode, Darren goes up against the legendary Peter Rios, in our first installment of Stump the Subs! While Darren plans his office shindig, Matt prepares to meet James Robinson, and Paul feasts on salvaged stew, the Legion finally gets the lead feature in Adventure Comics, the once and future home of all things Legion. After we get reintroduced to the Legion, as well as a longtime phantom friend, we learn the secret origin of Bouncing Boy. That’s right. We said it. Bouncing Boy. This one has it all. Lead masks, bouncy heroes, and super advanced chemical antidotes invented by a telepath. Bounce on by and check it out!

In this episode, Paul, Darren and Matt talk about the Legion and learn an important life lesson. That life lesson is that one should never allow their super powered cousin to try and set them up, in Superman’s Super Courtship. Next they greet a new member to the Legion in The Boy with the Ultra Powers. Words cannot completely convey the creepiness of Superman’s Super Courtship, but the guys try really hard. Also in this episode, more Legion news than you can shake a stick at, although really, why would you ever shake a stick at Legion News?

Accompanied by their own Super Pets (Snorty the Super Pug (aka Charlie), cats Thomas Tuxedo, Zan and Jayna, and dogs Desi and Lucy), Paul, Darren and Ric take you through the first adventure of Krypto, Streaky, Beppo and Comet, the Legion of Super Pets. We even meet Streaky’s descendant Whizzy as we face Supergirl’s Greatest Challenge (well, second biggest after Crisis, right?). Also, Legion news and listener feedback and a mysterious visit by arch foe, Computo!

While their teammates Ric and Matt are on a mission in deep space, Paul (Wii Boy) and Darren (Condo Shopping Lad) tackle their toughest battle yet. Will our two intrepid heroes be able to stand up to the Legion of Super Villains? Once they vanquish that threat, can they then battle the toughest foe of all, a stack of Ma Kent’s flapjacks? The Legionnaires dig deep to make sense of the history of Mon-El. Up next, we figure out World Peace and the economy. It starts with a look at some recent Legion news, leading to some speculation as to the future of the Legion (we do have our wishlists!). Then we jump into Superboy 89, and start unravelling the puzzle of the man from Daxam. Lar Gand, Mon-El, Valor, M’Onel and back to Mon-El. The Legionnaires join in battle against their biggest foe yet: footnoting the first two issues of Legion of Three Worlds. While Paul struggles to remain coherent, after participating, practically solo, in a 48 Hour Film Festival (he won, by the way!), Darren, Matt and Ric join him in digging into all of the little details of the exciting miniseries written by Geoff Johns, and illustrated in great, obsessive detail by George Perez. Grab a glass of Silverale, kids, ’cause this one has more detail than Brainiac 5’s Masters Thesis!  

While their comrade at arms, Ric, is trapped in 1933 fighting alongside Doc Savage, Darren and Paul continue the neverending battle in the future, and are at long last joined by our fourth member, the amazing Mystery Lad, aka Matt Kramer! Learn the secret of Mystery Lad’s involvement in the secret origin of the Legion of Substitute Podcasters, and how he quickly becomes Blame Boy! The guys discuss The Army of Living Kryptonite Men, are baffled at how Superboy ever had a thing for Lana Lang, in Lana Lang and the Legion of Super Heroes, and see Supergirl finally gain admittance to the ranks of the Legion in Supergirl’s Three Super-Girlfriends. Welcome back to the future! This time around, Ric, Darren and Paul talk about the next two Legion stories, in which Superboy is Prisoner of the Super Heroes and Supergirl meets The Three Super Heroes. We also discuss the cancellation of the Jim Shooter penned, and Francis Manapul pencilled, Legion series with issue #50. In 1958, Adventure Comics 247 first hit the stands and brought us a new team of superheroes. They were from the future, had really cool jet packs and had their names written on their chests. They grew into a truly huge superteam and established a long and storied legacy, with many characters, and a universe that seemed to have no limits. Now, 50 years later, Paul French, Ric Croxton and Darren Nowell, all Legion fans for many years, unite to help clarify the continuity, and talk about how much they love the Legion. In this episode, Paul, Ric and Darren share the origins of their own Legion fandom, and delve into the biographies of the first three Legionnaires, Cosmic Boy, Saturn Girl and Lightning Lad (who was called Lightning Boy in the first issue) and also of the creators of the Legion, starting with Otto Binder and Al Plastino.
