Try as we might, even the best of Christians possess no power of their own to influence change in the world. Everything about God's plan to use humans requires the power of the Holy Spirit within us. Captain Chesley Sullenberger is a hero like no other. Saving all 155 lives as he landed his crippled aircraft in the Hudson River was incredible - but this feat was no chance occurrence. The pain of Jesus' physical death was exceeded only by the emotional darkness experienced on the cross. "My God, my God - why have you forsaken me?" Perhaps you've been there - or are in that place of pain right now. In this season of Lent we find a glimpse of Jesus' true passion as his death draws near. And when looking down from the cross at his dearest friend and cherished mother, what Jesus spoke to them still speaks to us yet today.
