Acclaimed author Ann bridges joins the Heartland Research Fellow Linnea Lueken to discuss the green energy revolution many democrats desire, but do not understand. Renewable energy production requires rare Earth minerals, something the Biden administration does not want to ramp up. With Democrat appointees at the helm and the Biden administration’s encouragement, the supposedly independent U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has gone full-on woke on climate change. Stepping well outside its legal mission to protect investors from fraud and the markets from insider trading and manipulation, the SEC has decided it knows what the managers of publicly traded companies, portfolio and fund managers, and investors should care about. Forget about making profits for companies and their shareholder-owners, a company’s financial condition and prospects based on business and market measures, or providing a secure, comfortable retirement for pensioners. According to the SEC, all of that should take a back seat to fighting climate change.

One of the most important parts of elites' plan for a Great Reset of the global economy is the widespread use of environmental, social, and governance (ESG) scores, which are a kind of social credit system. The Biden administration and Senate Democrats are putting the brakes on Short Term Limited Duration Insurance (STLDI) plans.  These are plans that are not subjected to the same coverage requirements of Obamacare plans and as a result, premiums are a fraction of the cost.  Consumers buy them to maintain coverage between jobs or life transitions.  They are often referred to as plans for healthy people because they do not cover pre-existing conditions. Brian Blasé, founder and president of the Paragon Institute, discusses what will likely happen to these plans under the Biden administration and why that will eliminate choice in the health care marketplace. Purdue Pharma, drug maker and distributor, has agreed to pay 26 billion dollars to settle state and municipal lawsuits for its role in the nationwide opioid epidemic. Peter Pitts is the president and co-founder of the Center for Medicine in the Public Interest and former associate commissioner of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. Pitts says the litigation has gone on long enough and it’s time to distribute that money to where it is needed most, the treatment centers, especially after record numbers of people died from opioid overdose during the pandemic. Peter Pitts discusses what is holding up the distribution of settlement funds, why plaintiff states are dragging their feet, whether all plaintiffs have to agree on the distribution of funds, and how similar the opioid litigation is to the case against tobacco companies in the 1990s. In the 90s, settlement money went to everyone except the victims.  Pitts criticizes attorney generals for grandstanding, and the more they delay, the more people will suffer. Americans suffering from the blight of opioid addiction should not be held prisoners.
