A very warm welcome to this special edition of "Continuum – A Journey Through Jazz! This is my annual Thanksgiving episode . . . however, in light of the fact that countries outside of the US do not have the same Thanksgiving traditions I thought I'd do something a little more universal to cater to my wider world audience. Since everyone eats at some time or other, I figured that it would be a pretty safe bet to play some jazz appropriate to accompany a meal of any kind . . . or a pre-meal . . . or post-meal - I don't want to be too legalistic about it. Heck, you don't even have to actually eat to listen. It works with or without food. Thus, there are no songs specific to "Thanksgiving" - but rather, general songs suited to a relaxing Autumnal day or night . . . that may or may not be accompanied by food. To that end, I have prepared a two hour feast of straight ahead, melodic jazz featuring Hristo Vitchev & Weber Iago, Yoki Freund Sextet, Timo Lassy, Avery Sharpe, Arturo Sandoval, Fabrizio Bosso (with the London Symphony Orchestra), Cesare Picco, Yoron Israel, Allsopp / Vosloo / Stanley & Giles, Leo Gandelman, Duke Ellington Legacy, Will Goble, Hot Club Of Detroit, Tia Fuller, Tucci and Mannutza, John Sandfort, Steve Einerson, Brian Bromberg, Kevin Bales Quartet, George Cables, Bruce Barth, Chick Corea & Gary Burton, and The Neil Cowley Trio. These pieces all have an air of hopeful melancholy, peace, warmth, joy, and/or a sense of longing . . . they perfectly capture the essence and mood of a graceful seque from summer into autumn, and autumn into winter.
