 Just Jazz – December 2012 | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 2:15:02

Heading your way this month is the twelth show from Mr. Terry Keels or as he’s more affectionately known – TK. 'Just Jazz' is, as it says in the title, just jazz, and features over two hours of the coolest tracks you can imagine from cats such as Jeff Hackworth to José James and Woody Witt to Wycliffe Gordon. Note the word cool, not smooth. That’s not where TK’s coming from. We think then that it's only right and proper to share this man's knowledge, passion and desire to talk about and play the jazz. To download, just click on the link above and show your ears some love from the 'D'.

It’s a warm welcome to Mike Chadwick who's here every other Wednesday to present The 'European Jazz Union' - a 60 minute show that highlights the best jazz music that Europe has to offer. Please feel free to get in touch with Mike with any comments or suggestions you might have; he’ll be more than happy to hear from you: mike@soulandjazz.com Shall we get a move on then?

 FOLDEDSPACE – December 2012 | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 2:00:00

Well here it is - the Christmas edition of FOLDEDSPACE. A show packed with more quality than antlers at a reindeer convention. As some of you may already know, anything by Leroy Hutson is on my desert island disc list - come on Kirsty, give me a call - so there's a proper soulful offering from him and also from The Natural Four, both of which should have you two-stepping around the Christmas tree. I've lots of new music on offer - standouts being music from Rich Spaven (José James/Flying Lotus) and Grant Windsor's group The Sure Co. Definitely on the money are Australian group Hiatus Kaiyote who are beyond superlatives. Also, can't get enough of Julie Dexter and the new LP from Tatham, Mensah, Lord and Ranks - both featured. We've a tribute to the late Dave Brubeck and music from Anthony David's new album. This months big feature is a profile of young Northern Irish musician David Lyttle who's currently making waves in the US and who's in the mix for the Grammys. His musical collaborators include Jazz Messenger Jean Toussaint, UK don Jason Rebello and my favourite keyboardist Kaidi Tatham. So that's the line up - hopefully you'll enjoy!. Here's wishing you a very 'Merry Christmas' - see you in '13! Peace, Tony Minvielle

 Continuum – Episode 106: Jazz & Soul Vocals 2012 Part 2 | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 2:01:41

Greetings and welcome to the 106th edition of Continuum, A Journey Through Jazz! For this episode I have assembled two hours of new jazz and soul vocals from the annals of 2012 – and while this episode claims to be Part 2 of this series . . . it’s actually more like Part 8. If you look through the podcast category archives of my show, you can see that I’ve been featuring new jazz and soul vocals all year long, but I've given each episode a different name corresponding to the time of year I've produced it. It makes each one more relevant & timely . . . and forces me to come up with creative titles rather than just describing the styles contained therein (like I'm doing with this one). I usually do Christmas episodes this time of year - but I've played all my favorite Christmas music over the past two years (and all those episodes are still free and available), and thus decided to focus on some music that will hopefully make you feel good. We start out with some straight ahead jazz vocals steeped in the blues featuring Tia Fuller (feat. Dianne Reeves), Ranee Lee, Halie Loren and Rene Marie . . . we then move on to some bossa from Carol Saboya & Connie Evingson . . . some eclectic straight ahead from Beth Duncan . . . soul jazz from John Pizzarelli . . . contemporary jazz from Elizabeth Shepherd & Princess Freesia . . . and then ride out the final portion of the show with a healthy dose of soul and solid groove featuring Maz, Ty Causey, Incognito, Anthony David, Angela Johnson, Joey Negro & The Sunburst Band (feat. Noelle Scaggs), Ananda Project (feat. Alex Lattimore), DJ Kemit (feat. Terrance Downs), Ralf Gum (feat. Kenny Bobien), and Amikaeyla There are quite a few styles in this show - and rarely do people like them mixed together. However, the good thing about a podcast is if you don’t like a particular song or style - you can fast forward to the next . . . and if you DO like a particular song, you can rewind and listen to it as often as you like . . . and if this show doesn’t suit your taste, we've got 829 others to choose from! I'd love to hear your thoughts, comments, suggestions, philosophical musings, political rants, Holiday greetings or inappropriate letters expressing your undying love - just send them to Scott@soulandjazz.com or you can always stalk me on Facebook and Twitter. I'm only a click away. Agape y'all, J. Scott Fugate, "The Jazz Evangelist"

 Continuum – Episode 105: New Jazz Grooves 2012 Part 3 | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 2:02:06

Welcome back to the 105th edition of "Continuum - A Journey Through Jazz"! For this episode, I’ve selected two hours of contemporary and modern jazz - ready & willing to feed your soul. The last couple of episodes have focused solely on straight ahead and mainstream jazz – therefore, I thought I’d pick the groove back up again with this one. I did receive a few responses last week to which I am extremely grateful, and a few of you really DO like your jazz straight ahead . . . but I need to mix it up each week to keep you intrigued, and to keep myself from getting bored. To that end I've lined up 23 tracks featuring some contemporary/modern jazz (with a healthy side of funk & fusion) from Marcus Miller, Lee Ritenour, Snarky Puppy, Lakecia Benjamin, Mike Stern, and something downright greasy from Papa Grows Funk . . . some Japanese jazz grooves from 13souls, Room56 & J.A.M. . . .some acid jazz/nu jazz from Bennetrhodes, DJ Kemit (feat. Frank McComb), Joey Negro & The Sunburst Band, Skywalker, and The Cutler . . . and a generous portion of modern/contemporary jazz with straight-ahead sensibilities, soul and swing from Randy Hoexter, Brian Bromberg, Timo Lassy, Grant Geissman, Tia Fuller, Yoron Israel, Leo Gandelman, and Joe Alterman. If you were hoping for a dance party - this isn't really that kind of groove. It's more of a head-nodding, city driving, chill type of groove. The kind of groove you play at a party or a lounge - but not necessarily a dance club . . . ya dig? So, as the Holidays progress at breakneck speed, hopefully this will provide you with a nice soundtrack to kick back, relax, and re-energize. As always, I dearly love to hear from you - please continue to send your emails & expensive gifts to Scott@Soulandjazz.com, or hit me up on Facebook & Twitter. Remember, I'm always just a click away. Agape y'all, J. Scott Fugate, "The Jazz Evangelist"
