The most common type of sleep apnea is obstructive sleep apnea (OSA), which is estimated to affect more than 12 million Americans, over half of whom are overweight. Some studies suggest that nearly 50 percent of adult patients visiting primary care physicians are at risk for OSA, yet few are sent for testing. This activity will explore a patient's journey from diagnosis through counseling and treatment, as well as highlight what primary care physicians should look for in a patient's history to identify high-risk patients.
