The Journey - Everything (Audio)
Summary: At The Journey, Jesus is the heartbeat of everything we do. He's what makes us go, who we live for, the person that we orient our lives around. We want our church to embody his love for each other and our city. While the doctrines that express our faith in him aren't everything, they help give shape to our faith.

Pastor Darrin Patrick continues the FREE sermon series from the book of Galatians, discussing in detail the attributes that lead to authentic, Biblical community. We see that the church should be a community of restoration and self-correction—of brothers and sisters, not consumers and critics.
Pastor Darrin explains how we differentiate between the work of the Holy Spirit and our own self-effort. When we're led by the Spirit we bear the fruit of the Spirit, while self-effort leads to bitterness, legalism, and judgment. We also see that the fruit of the Spirit manifests holistically, grows gradually, and reflects the character of Jesus.
Pastor Darrin cautions against the slow, subtle onset of legalistic self-righteousness, which destroys true community and inhibits the operation of God's grace in our lives.
Jeremy Irwin, lead pastor at our Hanley Road church, describes the character and calling of elders.
Pastor Darrin Patrick teaches on God's desire for a generous heart from his people and his ability to meet all of our needs when we're faithful with what he's given us.
Pastor Darrin explains through Paul's analogy of Isaac and Ishmael that our identity isn't founded in the world, but on God's supernatural promises. Our citizenship is in heaven; we're to be rooted in things above rather than on the ups and downs of our performance.
