The Journey - Everything (Audio)
Summary: At The Journey, Jesus is the heartbeat of everything we do. He's what makes us go, who we live for, the person that we orient our lives around. We want our church to embody his love for each other and our city. While the doctrines that express our faith in him aren't everything, they help give shape to our faith.

"Coming to Jesus will expose your deepest pain, reveal your deepest need, and transform your deepest sin." Pastor Jeremy Bedenbaugh looks intently at John 4:7-30 and the story of the Samaritan woman at the well. We ultimately learn that Jesus uses our pain to draw us to himself. We can trust him because he backed his word by his work on the cross, enabling us to come to him as we are: sin, pain, and guilt included.

Pastor Jeremy Bedenbaugh preaches from John 4. While our human inclination is to want full control of our lives, holistic worship allows us to acknowledge that God is in control. In turn, he helps free us from fear and anxiety as his supernatural peace guards our hearts.

Dr. Bryan Chapell powerfully expounds on the glory of God. As we learn from Isaiah 6:1-8, in spite of God's immeasurable holiness and power, the greatest mark of his glory is exemplified in Jesus—through whom "the infinite is made intimate". His sacrifice, alone, allows us to stand before the most-holy God.
Pastor Darrin preaches from Romans 12, explaining that worship is holistic and all-encompassing; all of life is worship. Worship is active; it moves us from being world-conformed to being mind-transformed. God has also designed us to worship him together, walking alongside one another in authentic community.
Pastor Darrin Patrick introduces our summer schedule and provides vision for the upcoming Worship sermon series. From Acts 2:41-47. "The church is to be a people who participate as they embrace the gospel and live it out in love in the world. The church should not be a place where people come to consume as if it were a vender of religious goods and services." Dallas Williard "The biblical understanding of salvation is not merely that our lives and our world finally will be set right again. The biblical understanding of salvation is that our lives become swept up into something larger and greater than ourselves, into God's purposes for the world." James Brownson "The church is the only society in the world which exists for the benefit of those who are not its members." William Temple
"Remember also your Creator in the days of your youth, before the evil days come and the years draw near of which you will say, 'I have no pleasure in them'"(Ecclesiastes 12:1 ESV). John Wesley defines "evil" in this context as "the time of old age, [which is] burdensome in itself, and far more grievous when it is loaded with the sad remembrance of youthful follies, and with the dreadful prospect of approaching death and judgment." The warning in the text is clear: Our bodies eventually fail and decay, while life's pleasures grow dim and unable to satisfy. Such wisdom should encourage us to sow seed for righteousness now.
