Episode 141: One Weekly Inventory, Two Trades Per Day and 17 Weeks of Consistency | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 37:18

For this episode of The Traders Podcast, your host Rob Booker and Bradley Fried talk with Duane Hope of Aurora, Colorado (pictured with Rob). Duane is a remarkable person who says organization and consistency did not come naturally for him, and yet he is now a very disciplined and successful trader, with 17 weeks in a row of consistent trading performance! Duane believes that reporting his pips daily gives himself a disincentive for following his rules. So, Rob and Brad talk to him about his practice of taking a personal accountability inventory at the end of each week, as opposed to each day. They also discover that Duane limits himself to just two trades per day. Rob talks to Duane about his favorite and most inspirational books and authors, including American author and personal success guru, Napoleon Hill. Rob also asks Duane to share how his faith in God and the Bible have informed his life as a trader. Tune in and join us — you’ll like it!  Episode 140: Trading by Using Neuro-Linguistic Programming | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 27:24

Thanks for tuning in to this fascinating episode! During this show, we catch up with your host, Rob Booker, as he is sitting in the parking lot of a Whole Foods grocery store, somewhere in Salt Lake City. Rob interviews Scott Hines of Australia, who lives at the top of the state of Victoria. Scott is a 14-year veteran trader who uses Neuro-Linguistic Programming (or NLP), which helps to influence one’s emotional and psychological state, or assists in replacing negative behaviors with more positive ones, among other things. Rob talks to Scott about some specific uses for NLP, such as an example where a trader struggles with fear every time a trade goes into profit. Scott discusses the concept of “anchors,” which are physical or sensory inputs that act as a catalyst for an automatic or instinctive reaction — or in other words — something that serves as a trigger for making a person feel or behave a certain way (and this can be positive or negative). Scott also discusses how human beings make associations and have patterns in place for everything in their lives. And finally, we’ll also hear a current update from Rob on his Trade-for-a-Living Tour and hear what he’s doing today in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Trust us... you don’t want to miss this one! As Rob’s big road tour quickly approaches in a few days, Jason asks him some questions that most listeners have probably been wondering about — including more details on Rob’s rules for living off his $10 K trading account. And Rob reveals whether he thinks he’ll actually be able to make enough money during his travels. And for the latter half of Episode 136, Rob answers an e-mail from a 17-year-old trader named Daniels Vitols, who asks how he can know if he’s on the right track in his trading.  Episode 135: A Three-Step Process for Becoming a More Patient Trader | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 20:27

For those traders out there who struggle (or have struggled) with so-called “over-trading,” Episode 135 is for you. Rob describes a time in his trading career when he was taking 30 to 40 trades per day — and he says this trader’s malady is due to a lack of patience for trading. This podcast is about having the patience to wait for trades that we want to make. So, if you’re a trader who would close your winning trades early and then immediately launch back into the market again, you might need to become a more patient trader. In this show, you’ll hear Rob explain his three-step process for becoming more patient, a process that Rob says changed his trading career. You don’t want to miss this one! Rob also talks about monkeys, bananas and hot yoga! Note: The map Rob refers to is located in the show notes for Episode 133, not Episode 134.  Episode 132: How to Self-Publish a Kindle Book | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 28:43

In this very valuable episode, author Rob Booker explains how to self-publish a Kindle book. Rob describes what it means, exactly, to self-publish. He also talks about why self-publishing is a better experience for first-time authors than getting a book produced through a publishing company. During this show Rob highly recommends Guy Kawasaki’s excellent book on self-publishing titled APE: Author, Publisher, Entrepreneur-How to Publish a Book. Also in this show, Rob talks about a very simple way to go about self-publishing your own paperback book. And he even suggests an idea that's simpler still: publishing a PDF document of your written work — and selling that document! Rob gives a little crash course on how to market your book, as well. This episode is chock full of resources and great ideas, so if you're thinking about writing your own trading book, this one's for you!  Episode 131: Into the Garbage Pile of Podcast History | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 21:42

You’ll have to please excuse us for this wacky episode... when we recorded Episode 131, your host Rob Booker was a little wound up and quite comical in his reaction to an e-mail from fellow author Brian Twomey, who wrote to inform Rob that he has surpassed Rob’s former publishing accomplishments. Congratulations to Brian! In other news, our friend John wrote to tell us about his forthcoming podcasting venture in which he’s launching his own podcast on automated trading! John’s e-mail is a response to our invitation for other trader-podcasters to create a show of their own and band together with us as part of The Traders Podcast Network. This leads to a discussion of a few tips for traders who are considering starting their own podcasts. Rob and Jason talk about microphones and inexpensive set-ups. But the best resource for a beginner is this Learn How to Podcast link. And last, but certainly not least, our friend Linna wrote to tell us about her publishing venture and shares some of her book with us. We hope you can find some sort of enjoyment from this bizarre episode. Thanks for listening!  Episode 130: Friends Don’t Let Friends Trade Drunk | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 18:25

A few episodes ago ( Episode 126 ), your host Rob Booker recorded a popular episode in response to a listener named Lisa. Having received a great outpouring of responses from our friends who heard that podcast, Rob and Jason dip into the listener mailbag again, where they encounter comments from Derek, who has a tremendous attitude and a story similar to Lisa’s. We also get a noteworthy comment from Brian, who also has some great insights. Finally, Rob wraps up this episode by talking about some of the ongoing conversation he’s had with Greg K., the trader who discussed his study of “intuitive trading” and remote viewing in Episode 128. Tune it, it’s fun! Links for this episode: TFL365.com Rob on Twitter: @RobBooker The Traders Podcast on Twitter: @TradersPodcast E-mail us! Producer@TradersPodcast.com

Episode 129: Probabilities, Uncertainties and The Truth About Trading | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 20:11

In this follow-up to our previous show, Episode 128, your host Rob Booker and the producer Jason Pyles consider Greg K.’s interview about remote viewing and intuitive trading. Jason asks how the compelling results that are produced over time from intuitive trading correspond with probability. Rob talks about how trading systems are really just a set of probabilities, and in that same vein, Rob also discusses probabilities versus sure-things and how there really are no sure-things... Rob reveals a reason why most traders end up failing. And in this episode Jason hits on The Truth about Trading, which leads to a discussion about the uncertainty of life itself ... deep. Listen!  Episode 128: Employing ESP, Remote Viewing and the Intuitive Mind in Trading | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 38:48

In this very unusual episode of The Traders Podcast, your host Rob Booker interviews Greg Kolodziejzyk (aka Greg K.), who wrote a research paper about a 13-year study that he conducted, which was recently published in The Journal of Parapsychology, where he explored the role of intuition in trading. Rob and Greg talk about the two components of intuition, the phenomenon of ESP (extra-sensory perception), and they delve into an exploration of a controversial technique known as “remote viewing.” Rob asks if the analytical mind gets in the way of the intuitive mind’s natural ability to make good decisions. And Greg talks about combining something that’s intuitive with something that’s chart-based or technical-based. In Episode 128, you'll also hear Rob comment on a book called Opening to the Infinite. And if you’re a skeptic who’s wondering whether you should skip such an outlandish episode, you might want to hear Greg reveal the profits that he generated over this 13-year period of trading with the intuitive mind. Oh, and stick around after this episode for some casual BONUS conversation about this intriguing subject. Thanks for listening! In Episode 127, Rob Booker and Jason Pyles bring you a State of the Podcast Address, where Rob announces some recent award recognition that we’ve received (thanks to you — our listeners). We also talk about starting a Traders Podcast Network and an intriguing, upcoming podcast guest for Episode 128! Next we move into the theme of this episode, which is how to successfully manage a winning trade once it’s open. Rob and Jason discuss staying calm under pressure, the fight-or-flight defense mechanism, our tendency to gravitate toward the familiar, why the mere passage of time makes us nervous — and most importantly, Rob’s three-step plan for staying in your trades. You don’t want to miss this one — it’s a hoot!
