How did we get to this point in Southland's history? Looking ahead to the launch of Richmond Road, let's re-trace and celebrate our history by walking through the key decisions that took courage, humility, sacrifice, patience and lots of faith.
Living your whole life like you're God is not the way to go. Life is short and before you know it, you are old, gray and falling apart. Connect with the Creator while you're young and spend a lifetime following Him.
God gives us loving boundaries – guardrails to keep us safely on the right road. His wisdom is so rich and right, that trying to "know our own limits" by ourselves just doesn't cut it.
"Connectedness" is not the same as just knowing a bunch of people, and Solomon knew that better than anyone. God has not built us to run on the fuel of accomplishments, but rather on the love of our relationships.
What defines success? Finding your worth and significance in your accomplishments, your career, your title, your position does a number on your true identity.
Letting your senses, your appetites & your impulses lead you in your quest for meaning is, well, meaningless; "chasing after the wind." We have been created to be empty unless we are filled up with Him. A square peg won’t go in a round hole.
We are a people bombarded by images of success, power, wealth, entertainment, pleasure, romance, relationships ... and the list goes on. We may not build golden calves or statues in our backyards, but do we honor these things more that God? The challenge is clear: "Choose this day whom you will serve." In this sermon, Kyle Idleman reveals that the things we honor are actually gods at war.
In the conclusion to Majoring in the Minors, Jon talks about how God's heart is the exact same as it was in Haggai's day: He doesn't want people living in ruins.
In one of the most prosperous and secure times in Israel's history, God told a regular guy named Amos to crack the veneer and address some serious, underlying problems.
God does what God wants to do, and at the end of the day God wants to be with you.
The minor prophets may not get a whole lot of publicity, but the issues they wrote about are still major players in our lives today.
You tweeted, and we listened. In the conclusion to Twitter Confessions, Jon and Dan tackle some of the questions you sent us over the last couple weeks.
If we want to talk about Biblical tough guys, Paul's got the rest beat by a mile. But just like him, our grit needs to spring from an unexpected source.
Some of us are Christians for just an hour and a half on Sunday. But as comfortable as it can be to look down at others, we need to take a hard look at ourselves during the other 6 days.
"How about just some days? God's will is weird and I'm too busy watching cat videos on YouTube to figure it out." Life always gets more complicated, but Jesus' expectations don't — we just need to follow Him.
