Running & Other Stuff show

Running & Other Stuff

Summary: Kim is a runner who married a guy who goes by the alias of Darth Vader. As much as she plans, she is a fly-by-the-seat-of-her-pants type of gal. She's Half Fanatic #2507, a Zooma Ambassador, Ragnar Ambassador, and a member of The North Face Endurance Challenge blog team. She practices yoga, avoids fast food, drinks red wine and whatever non-IPA beer Lord Vader has in the fridge. She also spends enormous amounts of time trying to keep the monster sized dog in line. Nesa is a runner and a physical therapist. She's a wealth of knowledge and she knows how to apply KT Tape. She likes old Coke, the original kind, you know ... Coca Cola. She likes cupcakes, Lululemon and turtles. She is also a Ragnar Ambassador, and a member of The North Face Endurance Challenge blog team. Nesa's trying to talk Kim into running the Goofy Challenge in 2013. Kim doesn't want to. How will this turn out? Tune in and see!  Ep 44: Tara runs the Goofy Challenge | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 01:19:18

Running and Other Stuff, Episode 44: Tara is on the show to talk about the Walt Disney World Marathon weekend! She ran Goofy's Race and a Half Challenge (that's a half marathon on Saturday, then a full marathon on Sunday). Tara was my teammate from last year's Ragnar Chicago as well as on my team again this year -- which event do you think she found to be harder? Goofy vs. Ragnar? I was surprised by her answer.  Ep 43: This episode makes us fartlek | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 01:03:47

Running and Other Stuff, Episode 43: Kim and Nesa discuss the Ragnar Relay from Madison to Chicago, the legs (of Ragnar, not OUR legs ....), our team and what we should name it, how we can't count to 12, how our running has been going, Kim almost tossed Old Glory *gasp* (but the people of Dailymile talked her out of it), Nesa tries crossfit and kettlebells, Kim's power yoga class broke her abs, Kim also shows off her knitting skills and more!  Ep 42: At look back at 2011 | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:52:01

Happy New Year! In Episode 42 I take a look back at 2011 and what I've accomplished. When I looked at my blog I realized that I had never published (nor finished writing) my goals for 2011, but as it turns out I still did quite a bit. I ran, I read, I biked, I Ragnar'd, I did yoga, I defeated my husband on a quiz about our kid, I saw ALL of the Oscar nominated best pictures, I had a 100 mile month, I made my kid's dream come true (well, one of them), I *finally* visited a certain bookstore, and MORE! I also gave a recap of my Run Into the New Year 5K -- fingers crossed that I can get Nesa on to give her recap. I'm still not sure what I want out of 2012, how about you? Happy Running!  Ep 41: I get one loop! (Vegas unedited) | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 01:25:48

Ep 41 is the unedited fun from Vegas with Nesa, Becca and Jeff. How else can I describe this episode of Running 8 Other Stuff but to say we cover a lot of topics. This show was recorded on  Saturday, December 3rd, 2011, prior to the Strip At Night events and we pick up more guests as we go along, do loops through the airport while we wait for Jeff's flight to land, debate who gets to use the phone charging port (guess what, there was another port in the backseat that we didn't find until Sunday), Becca and I discuss our dogs, we play Marco Polo at the airport, hotel choices, who texts who first, what's more kick ass Red Vines or Twizzlers, Circus Circus has a lot of lights on it, there's a clown show (they missed it though), and what it says on the back of the Welcome to Vegas sign. Join me in episode 39 of the Running 8 Other Stuff Podcast as I give my final (?) thoughts on the Rock n Roll Las Vegas Half Marathon (and marathon too I suppose by default), I figure out just how many 44,000 people are (and no, I did not count them one at a time), I talk about my week in training, go to yoga, I am sick of eating cake, and then you find out that I'm not a fan of Christmas, and MORE! Happy Running! By the way, I'm not pleased with the audio quality on this podcast. Next time should be top notch!  Ep 38: Rock n Roll Las Vegas Marathon Recap with Kristie | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 01:10:13

Welcome to the jungle! My guest on the show today was Kristie (@CoachKristieLV ) to give her recap of the Rock n Roll Las Vegas Marathon. It was her first full marathon and she rocked it! Kristie lives in Vegas and has run the half marathon for the last two years. Not only did she give a great recap of her event, she also brought a great perspective from a marathoner's point of view with the merging of the two events, the water situation and the cut-off times. We give a DOUBLE SHOUT OUT to @frenchiegurl for running an awesome marathon last weekend in Memphis! AND ... we explain #coffeeworkout.  Ep 37: Rock n Roll Las Vegas Half Marathon Recap - WE SURVIVED (barely) | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 01:00:35

In this episode Nesa and I give a recap of the Rock n Roll Las Vegas Half Marathon. Even though we both did relatively well, it was not pretty. Physically I had a better race than she did (READ: I did not puke). A few of the highlights were the mob scene at the start and finish line, merging of the marathoners and the half marathoners, lack of signage and heat in the finishers area, water issues, climbing over fences, lack of support, lack of medals, and more! Thank goodness Jeff and Becca were there to take care of us after the race. I forgot to add in my recap that somewhere around mile 8 I was shoved by a woman. No idea why. I was running along and she just grabbed my arm with both of her hands and shoved me aside. It was probably the rudest thing I've even encountered while running. Ever. ANYHOW .... this weekend I'll be talking to CoachKristieLV who ran the full marathon and is also from Las Vegas so don't forget to come back for the next episode.  Ep 30: I should probably carry a house key | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1:05:21

I started off this episode thinking I wouldn't have anything to talk about, little did I know ..... I discuss my training this week, Ragnar, my hotel choice for New Orleans, a search for lard for the apple pie, my daughter's allergies and more. Things get interesting towards the end of the podcast when I find myself in a bit of a situation which leads to telling a few stories that may or may not involve a key to my house. I end the podcast with an impromptu haiku. Happy running!
