Today's episode comes in at almost a perfect two hours, just a shade over as we review Fantastic Four, have a long chat about the best movie franchises and what exactly constitutes a franchise in the first place. We have a couple voicemails, rube stories will be told, Laremy talks TV, news will be discussed, games played and even more on top of that.
I don't know what it is, but we really start to get a little loopy as these latest episodes run over two hours long. This week Brad, Laremy and Greta are reviewing Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation, talking documentaries, film festivals, "True Detective", Ronda Rousey, a trailer talk segment, listener voice mails, we try and call Brad's mom and much, much more. We've also officially launched the Patreon page for the podcast with a variety of award levels for Lizard patrons of varying shapes and sizes. I'm not exaggerating or being hyperbolic when I say I believe this is one of the best episodes we've ever done on this podcast as we review Southpaw and Paper Towns, listen to rube stories, get to know Greta a little more, discuss Adam Sandler, classics we don't quite understand why they're classics, your voicemails, television and much, much more. It's non-stop entertainment for just under two-and-a-half hours! Hope you enjoy!
This morning the first lineup of films were announced for the 2015 Toronto International Film Festival and Kevin Jagernauth from The Playlist joins me here to take a look at the film's announced in the Gala and Special Presentation selection. We start from the top and run down the list from top to bottom, pointing out highlights and surprises and end with a discussion about the films we're surprised that weren't announced.
It's time for reviews as we delve into Thor: The Dark World and The Book Thief while also continuing our sequel discussion just a little, talk about the upcoming RoboCop remake, explore some Oscar betting odds, answer your questions, play some games and talk a little about the Blockbuster closure.
With so many questions from the listeners coming in Laremy and I are reinvigorated as we get to as many of your questions and game submissions as we can while also reviewing Machete Kills and Captain Phillips. On top of that today we also announce the winner of the listener Safe Haven review contest.
It's Tuesday and today's episode is loaded with a lot of good conversation on a variety of topics from the Lone Ranger team bagging on U.S. critics, how we come up with the grades for our movies, the coming of Avatar 2, 3 and 4 some brief Elysium commentary and our review of We're the Millers.
RopeofSilicon Podcast: Episode 191
Laremy and I began today's podcast intending to only go about an hour... Instead we nearly went two hours. I guess you are the beneficiaries as we review The Smurfs 2, 2 Guns and The Spectacular Now as well as answer your questions and voicemails and we've also started receiving entries in the Safe Haven review competition.

Welcome to the regular Tuesday edition of the RopeofSilicon Podcast as Laremy and I are back from our Las Vegas trip and have a lot to cover including your questions, more Toronto Film Festival titles announced, DVDs and Blu-rays, your voice mails and a series of rants and back-stories that really take the show on a tangent. We hope you enjoy.
Another Friday and another batch of reviews as Laremy and I take a look at The Wolverine and Blue Jasmine. We also play a snippet from my interview with the stars and director of The World's End, Edgar Wright, Simon Pegg and Nick Frost, where they discuss the birth of the Duchess' baby and after that we answer several of your questions, six of your voicemails, play our regular batch of games and even a little Watch This or Watch That. It's an absolutely packed episode. We hope you enjoy!
I think we have a pretty great episode for you today as not only do we bring a listener on to put a final nail in the Pacific Rim conversation by offering a viewpoint from the other side of the fence, I asked Edgar Wright. Simon Pegg and Nick Frost some question just for you during my interview with the The World's End stars. On top of that we have your traditional bit of questions, comments, games and new DVDs and Blu-ray, but overall this episode may be short, but it moves quite well. Hope you enjoy!
Today we've got a pile up of reviews as we take a look at R.I.P.D., Red 2 and The Conjuring plus answer a lot of your questions, talk Godzilla and peek at the comments from Laremy's appearance on the Slashfilmcast. It's a full episode and we hope you enjoy.
Today we're reviewing Turbo, talking new DVDs and Blu-rays, examining Pacific Rim a little more, answering your questions and voicemails, discussing 9/11 imagery in today's movies and much more.
