02/25/18 The Root: Transparent and Vulnerable | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: Unknown

Homily from the Second Sunday of Lent. Can I be honest? Many people find it incredibly difficult to be honest...even with themselves. But unless we get past the surface to the root of what is truly in our hearts, not only will we not know ourselves, no one else will know us either. In our relationship with God, we need to be honest with what is in our heart, we need to entrust what we've found to Him, and we need to be vulnerable enough to receive His love. Mass Readings from February 25, 2018: Genesis 22:1-2, 9, 10-13, 15-18 Psalm 116:10, 15, 16-17, 18-19 Romans 8:31-34 Mark 9:2-10 Listen to more homilies...  02/18/18 The Root: Age of Compromise | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: Unknown

Homily from the First Sunday of Lent. Are these ashes no more than skin deep? We live in a unique time. It is, in many ways, an age marked by a disposition towards compromise. One where convictions and beliefs are quickly and easily discarded whenever they become inconvenient. But the Christian must be able to stand. Therefore, the follower of Christ must go to the places of testing: the desert, the heart, the root. Mass Readings from February 18, 2017: Genesis 9:8-15 Psalm 25:4-9 1 Peter 3:18-22 Mark 1:12-15 Listen to more homilies...  02/14/18 The Root: The Imposter | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: Unknown

Homily from Ash Wednesday. Are these ashes no more than skin deep? Many people spend their time living as an imposter in their own lives. Even Christians will often be tempted to allow the power and grace of God to only go skin deep. But this Lent, you can choose a Lenten practice that will reach your heart…all the way down to the root. Mass Readings from February 14, 2017: Joel 2:12-18 Psalm 51:3-4,5-6,12-13,14,17 2 Corinthians 5:20—6:2 Matthew 6:1-6, 16-18

02/11/18 Discipleship 101: Free to Obey | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: Unknown

Homily from the Sixth Sunday of Ordinary Time. What happens when the disciple knows better than the rabbi? A person can be touched and made new by Jesus and still not be a disciple. One common aspect of discipleship is actually doing what the rabbi tells one to do. But what happens when the disciple knows better than the rabbi? The answer is: they cease to be a disciple. But what is needed when the disciple thinks they know better than the rabbi? The answer is...they need obedience. Mass Readings from February 11, 2017: Leviticus 13:1-2, 44-46 Psalm 32:1-2, 5, 11 1 Corinthians 10:31-11:1 Mark 1:40-45 TO DOWNLOAD THE BIBLE STUDY TAP ON THIS LINK OR COPY THE FOLLOWING LINK IN YOUR INTERNET BROWSER (Chrome, Firefox, Safari): https://bulldogcatholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2018/02/discipleship-101-free-to-obey.pdf

02/04/18 Discipleship 101: Free to Keep a Promise | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: Unknown

Homily from the Fifth Sunday of Ordinary Time. Having a duty is a privilege. Doing your duty is a freedom. Duties and obligations are often seen as burdens. They restrict us from doing what we want and being able to enjoy life. But is this accurate? It turns out that being entrusted with a duty is a gift…and being able to do that duty is a power. Mass Readings from February 4, 2017: Job 7:1-4, 6-7 Psalm 147:1-6 1 Corinthians 9:16-19, 22-23 Mark 1:29-39 TO DOWNLOAD THE BIBLE STUDY TAP ON THIS LINK OR COPY THE FOLLOWING LINK IN YOUR INTERNET BROWSER (Chrome, Firefox, Safari): https://bulldogcatholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2018/02/discipleship-101-free-to-keep-a-promise-1.pdf

01/28/18 Discipleship 101: Free to Be Held | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: Unknown

Homily from the Fourth Sunday of Ordinary Time. Following Jesus is not merely a matter of behaving or “being good". It ultimately rests on whether or not we will allow the Father to get close enough to carry us. But too many people find themselves divided, afraid, and bound by their sins, their fears, and their weakness. With a word, Christ can set us free. We can be free to be held rather than bound by what enslaves us. Mass Readings from January 28, 2017: Deuteronomy 18:15-20 Psalm 95:1-2, 6-7, 7-9 1 Corinthians 7:32-35 Mark 1:21-28 Listen to more homilies...  01/21/18 New Not Nice | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: Unknown

Homily from the Third Sunday of Ordinary Time. Look back. Let go. Live now. Nothing that has happened from the moment of your conception up until this moment is wasted. Jesus called those first disciples to follow Him and allow Him to make them into something new. In order to know how God will transform us in the future, we can look back on our lives and ask, “How has God led me in the past? What is He calling me to let go of right now? And how can I act on this immediately? Mass Readings from January 21, 2017: 1 Samuel 3:3-10, 19 Psalm 40:2, 4, 7-8, 8-9, 10 1 Corinthians 6:13-15, 17-20 John 1:35-42 Listen to more homilies...

01/14/18 Life Demands Courage | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: Unknown

Homily from the Second Sunday of Ordinary Time. Be steadfast in silence. Be strong in service. We can have our whole lives be about God: being in His presence, serving His people, learning His Word. But what happens when God’s response to that is silence? Sometimes silence is just silence. In the silence, Samuel shows us that we can become the kind of people that God needs to become. There is no one in Scripture, there is no one in history who stood steadfast in the silence and wasn’t transformed by the Lord in that silence. Mass Readings from January 14, 2017: 1 Samuel 3:3-10, 19 Psalm 40:2, 4, 7-8, 8-9, 10 1 Corinthians 6:13-15, 17-20 John 1:35-42 Listen to more homilies...

12/25/17 What Do You Want? | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: Unknown

Homily from the Nativity of the Lord (Christmas). Do you know what you want? Some people know exactly what they want and exactly what they need. Most of us do not, however. Because of that, until I experience the true need for a Savior, I will be unable to experience the joy of being given one. But when I know what I want...and need...Christmas becomes something far more than just another holiday. Mass Readings from December 25, 2017: Isaiah 62:11-12 Psalm 97:1, 6, 11-12 Titus 3:4-7 Luke 2:15-20 Listen to more homilies...

12/17/17 Here. Now. | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: Unknown

Homily from the Third Sunday in Advent. Have we lost the ability to enjoy things? When we live life constantly distracted and incessantly amused, we will not find ourselves in a place of endless amusement; we will find ourselves unable to enjoy anything. But the Word calls us to rejoice, to pray, and to give thanks. How can I do that if I can’t enjoy this moment? Mass Readings from December 17, 2017: Isaiah 61:1-2A, 10-11 Luke 1:46-48, 49-50, 53-54 1 Thessalonians 5:16-24 John 1:6-8, 19-28 Listen to more homilies... (There won't be a series this Advent, so there won't be any study handouts posted. "May the God of peace make you perfectly holy and may you entirely, spirit, soul, and body, be preserved blameless for the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.")

12/10/17 Be At Peace | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: Unknown

Homily from the Second Sunday in Advent. Is it possible to have peace in the midst of battle? Peace is not the absence of war, but the presence of something more powerful that war and trial. Peace is found when one is ready for the current challenge because they have done what they needed to do. This principally involves being in right relationship with one’s self, with others, and most especially with God. Repentance leads to right relationship…and Confession is the great gift that God has extended to us so we can be found at peace. Mass Readings from December 10, 2017: Isaiah 40:1-5, 9-11 Psalm 85:9-10-11-12, 13-14 2 Peter 3:8-14 Mark 1:1-8 (There won't be a series this Advent, so there won't be any study handouts posted. "Be at peace!")

 12/03/17 Remember | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: Unknown

Homily from the First Sunday in Advent. At the beginning of Advent, the Church reminds us of Christ’s words: Be Alert! To be alert is to know your identity and situation…but it is also to remember how you got to that place. It is to remember your story and what God has done. We remember what God has done in history and what God has done in our personal history in order to be able to weather crises and walk in the darkness. Mass Readings from December 3, 2017: Isaiah 63:16-17,19; 64:2-7 Psalm 80:2-3, 15-16, 18-19 1 Corinthians 1:3-9 Mark 13:33-37 Listen to more homilies... (There won't be a series this Advent, so there won't be any study handouts posted. But please, remember to "be watchful and alert" with us!)

11/26/17 What A Waste: The Price of Passivity | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: Unknown

Homily from the Solemnity of Our Lord Jesus Christ, King of the Universe. The consequence of indifference could have eternal significance. Hell is not only real, it is a real possibility. Those whom the Lord describes as being condemned were not condemned due to any sin they committed, but as a result of passivity. Sins of omission can have a consequence not only in this life, but in eternal life. Mass Readings from November 26, 2017: Ezekiel 34:11-12, 15-17 Psalm 23:1-2, 2-3, 5-6 1 Corinthians 15:20-26, 28 Matthew 25:31-46 Listen to more homilies...  11/19/17 What A Waste: The Burden of Talent | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: Unknown

Homily from the Thirty-third Sunday in Ordinary Time. Gifts are given for a purpose. Who you are is God’s gift to you. Who you become is your gift to God. God gives each of us any number of gifts/opportunities/talents in the course of our lives. Each one of these comes with a responsibility. The burden of the gift is that we must all do what we can to invest what God has invested in us. Mass Readings from November 19, 2017: Proverbs 31:10-13, 19-20, 30-31 Psalm 128:1-2, 3, 4-5 1 Thessalonians 5:1-6 Matthew 25:14-30 Listen to more homilies...  11/12/17 What A Waste: Wasted or Spent | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: Unknown

Homily from the Thirty-second Sunday in Ordinary Time. Spend your time on what matters most. “Life is long if you know how to use it." And yet, most of us do not know how to use our lives…we do not know how to spend our time because we do not have a clear vision of our calling in Christ Jesus. Because of this, we end up wasting time…and wasting much our lives. But we could choose another route. We can choose to live a life of significance by spending our time on the things that matter most. Mass Readings from November 12, 2017: Wisdom 6:12-16 Psalm 63:2, 3-4, 5-6, 7-8 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18 Matthew 25:1-13 TO DOWNLOAD THE BIBLE STUDY TAP ON THIS LINK OR COPY THE FOLLOWING LINK IN YOUR INTERNET BROWSER (Chrome, Firefox, Safari): http://bulldogcatholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2017/11/What-a-Waste-Wasted-or-Spent.pdf
