09/26/16 Interrupted: Too Busy to Notice | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: Unknown

Homily from the Twenty-sixth Sunday in Ordinary Time. Many people aren’t bad…they’re just busy. As Catholics, we believe that people matter. The world has been changed by Catholic Christians who did more than just believe this truth; they allowed this truth to interrupt their lives and they acted on it. What is the difference between them and us? It is threefold: we are too busy to notice, too numb to care, and think we are too small to matter. What if that changed?  09/18/16 Interrupted: Intentional Interruptions | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: Unknown

Homily from the Twenty-fifth Sunday in Ordinary Time. Not all interruptions are bad. An interruption is anything that takes our attention away from one’s primary task. But what if you don’t know your primary task? Or what if you aren’t living for your primary task? Are there some interruptions that might bring our attention back to the task we are supposed to be living for?  09/11/16 Interrupted: Avoiding the True God | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: Unknown

Homily from the Twenty-fourth Sunday in Ordinary Time. Is the main goal of the spiritual life to keep God off our back? What happens when our plan encounters God’s plan? No one likes interruptions, but they are a part of life. God is the Great Interrupter. Because we all know this, we can find ourselves doing all that we can to avoid the true God…the God who interrupts our lives. Mass Readings from September 11, 2016: Exodus 32:7-11,13-14 Psalm 51:3-4,12-13,17,19 1 Timothy 1:12-17 Luke 15:1-32 TO DOWNLOAD THE BIBLE STUDY TAP ON THIS LINK OR COPY THE FOLLOWING LINK IN YOUR INTERNET BROWSER (Chrome, Firefox, Safari): http://bulldogcatholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2016/09/Interrupted-Avoiding-the-True-God.pdf

 09/04/16 Beginning | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: Unknown

Homily from the Twenty-third Sunday in Ordinary Time. You often only need enough to start. The conditions for being a disciple of Jesus can be incredibly challenging. But they are not complicated. The conditions for discipleship all come down to one question: does Jesus have permission to interrupt your life? If He does, then you simply need to begin. Mass Readings from September 4, 2016: Wisdom 9:13-18B Psalm 90:3-4, 5-6, 12-13, 14-17 Philemon 9-10, 12-17 Luke 14:25-33 Listen to more homilies...

08/28/16 Fear of Missing Out | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: Unknown

Homily from the Twenty-second Sunday in Ordinary Time. You can choose to be limited by fear or motivated by gratitude. Fear can be a great motivator. But it is also something that drains us of life. Humility is essential for a joyful life. In order to grow in humility, one simply must choose gratitude. A person cannot be fearful and grateful at the same time. Mass Readings from August 28, 2016: Sirach 3:17-18, 20, 28-29 Psalm 68:4-5, 6-7, 10-11 Hebrews 12:18-19, 22-24 Luke 14:1, 7-14

07/24/16 Use It Or... | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: Unknown

Homily from the Seventeenth Sunday in Ordinary Time. Our environment has power when our will power runs out. Jesus promised that the father would send the Holy Spirit to anyone who asks. But that gift would be wasted on anyone who had no plans to use the gift. Have I set up my life so as to use the gift of the Father, or is my environment oriented towards my losing the gift? Mass Readings from July 24, 2016: Genesis 18:20-32 Psalm 138:1-2, 2-3, 6-7, 7-8 Colossians 2:12-14 Luke 11:1-13 Listen to more homilies...

05/01/16 Heroic Confidence: Trusted Teacher | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: Unknown

Homily from the Sixth Sunday of Easter. The Church will stay on course. Will I stay on board? Homily from the Sixth Sunday of Easter. We all need a teacher in whom we can have confidence. Jesus gave us this teacher when He founded the Catholic Church. You can have confidence that Jesus Christ founded and guides the Catholic Church. And even when you don’t understand a teaching...or if you fail to live up to the teachings of the Church, this is where you belong.  04/24/16 Heroic Confidence: Resilience | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: Unknown

Homily from the Fifth Sunday of Easter. It is necessary to go through hardships. There are times when we can avoid a problem. And there are times when there is no other option than to go through the difficulty. Lives change when we learn how to not merely avoid adversity, but to pass through adversity. Resilience is the ability to pass through adversity, and it is possible for everyone to develop this crucial trait. Without it, we will remain unchanged and unable. With resilience, we will become capable.  04/17/16 Heroic Confidence: Even If | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: Unknown

Homily from the Fourth Sunday of Easter. Confidence regardless of the outcome. When a person has confidence, they are entrusting themselves to another. Christian hope is not centered around an idea; it is focused on a Person. One of the things we know about God is that God is always faithful. One of the ways we grow in heroic confidence is by remaining faithful even if we are not delivered. Mass Readings from April 17, 2016: Acts 13:14, 43-52 Psalm 100:1-2, 3, 5 Revelation 7:9, 14-17 John 10:27-30 TO DOWNLOAD THE BIBLE STUDY TAP ON THIS LINK OR COPY THE FOLLOWING LINK IN YOUR INTERNET BROWSER (Chrome, Firefox, Safari): http://bulldogcatholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2016/04/Heroic-Confidence-Even-If.pdf

04/10/16 Heroic Confidence: Becoming Unoffendable | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: Unknown

Homily from the Third Sunday of Easter. You can choose to become unoffendable. After Pentecost, the early Christians had a unique strength. Not only did they boldly proclaim the Gospel, but they were immune to insults and taking offense. As followers of Christ, we must choose to avoid giving offense, but we must also choose to not take offense. Being offended is always a sign of immaturity. Christians must be so grounded in the truth and rooted in our identity in Jesus that we choose to become unoffendable. Mass Readings from April 10, 2016: Acts 5:27-32, 40-41 Psalm 30:2, 4, 5-6, 11-12, 13 Revelation 5:11-14 John 21:1-19 TO DOWNLOAD THE BIBLE STUDY TAP ON THIS LINK OR COPY THE FOLLOWING LINK IN YOUR INTERNET BROWSER (Chrome, Firefox, Safari): http://bulldogcatholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2016/04/Heroic-Confidence-Becoming-Unoffendable.pdf

04/03/16 Heroic Confidence: Caution or Confidence | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: Unknown

Homily from Divine Mercy Sunday. You can have confidence in the Divine Mercy of God. Timidity and fear are not meant to be a part of the Christian life. While we may experience these emotions, our hope is fortified by the solid conviction that Jesus Christ has conquered all that threatens to conquer us…and He has triumphed. With this solid conviction, we first confidently claim the mercy that He offers us. Mass Readings from April 3, 2016: Acts 5:12-16 Psalms 118:2-4, 13-15, 22-24 Revelation 1:9-11A, 12-13, 17-19 John 20:19-31 TO DOWNLOAD THE BIBLE STUDY TAP ON THIS LINK OR COPY THE FOLLOWING LINK IN YOUR INTERNET BROWSER (Chrome, Firefox, Safari): http://bulldogcatholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2016/04/Heroic-Confidence-Caution-or-Confidence.pdf
