09/23/18 Greatest of All Time: Selfless Ambition | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: Unknown

Homily from the Twenty-fifth Sunday in Ordinary Time. Ambition involves the willingness to risk. Selfless ambition is the willingness to risk the loss of status for the good of someone else. Great leaders are not those who make their authority over others felt. Great leaders (and great people) are those who, like Christ, place themselves and their gifts at the service of others. They have no fear of losing their status, because they have no status to lose.  09/16/18 Greatest of All Time: To Be Great, Give | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: Unknown

Homily from the Twenty-fourth Sunday in Ordinary Time. Could you be great even if no one knew? The desire to be seen and to be known is written deep in the human heart. But is a person great simply because a large number of people acknowledge them? Jesus reveals that true greatness is when a person gives themselves away to something or someone greater; it is to lay down one’s life for Him and for the Gospel. It does not consist in self-protection or self-expression, but in self-donation.  09/09/18 Greatest of All Time: Identity, Not Ability | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: Unknown

Homily from the Twenty-third Sunday in Ordinary Time. You don't have to do all the things. You just have to do the thing. We can put off doing the one thing we need to do in order to do other, less important, tasks. Or we can do the will of God as He lays it out for us and simply do the thing.  09/02/18 Do The Thing | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: Unknown

Homily from the Twenty-second Sunday in Ordinary Time. You don't have to do all the things. You just have to do the thing. We can put off doing the one thing we need to do in order to do other, less important, tasks. Or we can do the will of God as He lays it out for us and simply do the thing. Mass Readings from September 02, 2018: Deuteronomy 4:1-2, 6-8 Psalm 15:2-5 James 1:17-18, 21-22, 27 Mark 7:1-8, 14-15, 21-23

08/26/18 Not Welcome. Invited. | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: Unknown

Homily from the Twenty-first Sunday in Ordinary Time. God is not indifferent to you. Mass Readings from August 26, 2018: Joshua 24:1-2, 15-17, 18 Psalm 34:2-3, 16-17, 18-19, 20-21 Ephesians 5:21-32 John 6:60-69 To view Father Mike's response to the sex abuse scandal in the Church, visit: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AdR8eyaDCHg

05/06/18 An Example | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: Unknown

Homily from the Sixth Sunday of Easter. You do not need permission to be an example. Not all of us can have influence, but we can all be an example. Mass Readings from May 6, 2018: Acts 10:25-26, 34-35, 44-48 Psalm 98:1, 2-3, 3-4 1 John 4:7-10 John 15:9-17

06/10/18 The Unforgivable Sin | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: Unknown

Homily from the Tenth Sunday in Ordinary Time. At the heart of the unforgivable sin are two words. The two words “I’m fine” might be a simple way of saying “no thanks.” But it is also a way of saying “I do not desire to change my current status.” Even if a person is thirsty or hungry, they might say “I’m fine" in response to an offer of water or food. In a similar way, someone who longs for mercy might say “I’m fine” in response to the offer of grace. Mass Readings from June 10, 2018: Genesis 3:9-15 Psalm 130:1-2, 3-4, 5-6, 7-8 2 Corinthians 4:13—5:1 Mark 3:20-35

 04/29/18 What's Next: Go With | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: Unknown

Homily from the Fifth Sunday of Easter. Confidence is critical to moving forward. Surrender is the key to confidence. It is one thing to have confidence when a person has power and knowledge. There is another kind of confidence that is necessary when a person is powerless and answerless. This is the kind of confidence in another – – God – – that is willing to place everything a person has and doesn’t have under the Lordship of Jesus. Mass Readings from April 29, 2018: Acts 9:26-31 Psalm 22:26-27, 28, 30, 31-32 1 John 3:18-24 John 15:1-8 TO DOWNLOAD THE BIBLE STUDY TAP ON THIS LINK OR COPY THE FOLLOWING LINK IN YOUR INTERNET BROWSER (Chrome, Firefox, Safari): https://bulldogcatholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2018/04/whats-next-gowith.pdf

04/22/18 What's Next: When the Chips Are Down | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: Unknown

Homily from the Fourth Sunday of Easter. In calling us to what’s next, God doesn’t necessarily take anything away, but He gives us something. He doesn’t necessarily take away the danger or the fear, but He gives us what we need for the next thing. Courage is using what you’ve been given the moment what you’ve been given is needed the most. Mass Readings from April 22, 2018: Acts 4:8-12 Psalm 118:1, 8-9, 21-23, 26, 28, 29 1 John 3:1-2 John 10:11-18 TO DOWNLOAD THE BIBLE STUDY TAP ON THIS LINK OR COPY THE FOLLOWING LINK IN YOUR INTERNET BROWSER (Chrome, Firefox, Safari): https://bulldogcatholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2018/04/whats-next-when-the-chips-are-down.pdf

 04/15/18 What's Next: What's Now | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: Unknown

Homily from the Third Sunday of Easter. Looking ahead only gets you so far. Being convinced by Christ is one thing, being convicted to take action is another. The call is to be converted…to be changed…to be like Christ. This can happen when we follow the commandments with God’s grace and allow ourselves to be transformed. But this means that we are attentive to what’s now so that we can be ready for what’s next. Mass Readings from April 15, 2018: Acts 3:13-15, 17-19 Psalm 4:2, 4, 7-8, 9 1 John 2:1-5 Luke 24:35-48 TO DOWNLOAD THE BIBLE STUDY TAP ON THIS LINK OR COPY THE FOLLOWING LINK IN YOUR INTERNET BROWSER (Chrome, Firefox, Safari): https://bulldogcatholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2018/04/whats-next-whats-now.pdf

04/08/18 What's Next: Something More Than Control | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: Unknown

Homily from the Second Sunday of Easter. To move forward with joy, one needs something more powerful than control. The early Church was filled with men and women who lived in uncertainty. The current Church is filled with men and women who live in uncertainty. The key difference between them and us is that they had something more sure than certainty and something more powerful than control…they were convinced. Mass Readings from February 25, 2018: Acts 4:32-35 Psalm 118:2-4, 13-15, 22-24 1 John 5:1-6 John 20:19-31 TO DOWNLOAD THE BIBLE STUDY TAP ON THIS LINK OR COPY THE FOLLOWING LINK IN YOUR INTERNET BROWSER (Chrome, Firefox, Safari): https://bulldogcatholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2018/04/whats-next.pdf

03/30/18 Give and Receive | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: Unknown

Homily from Good Friday of the Lord's Passion. It is better to give and receive than to take and reject. Mass Readings from March 30, 2018: Isaiah 52:13—53:12 Psalm 31:2, 6, 12-13, 15-16, 17, 25 Hebrews 4:14-16; 5:7-9 John 18:1—19:42

03/25/18 Sign Your Name | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: Unknown

Homily from Palm Sunday of the Lord's Passion. Make the Passion personal. The Passion and death of Christ is so...big. Sometimes it can seem so big that it becomes impersonal. But this event was not anonymous and the sufferings of Jesus were not generic. Each moment has a name attached to it, and each blow was specific. Until what I did to him becomes personal, what he did for me it's not personal. Mass Readings from March 25, 2018: Isaiah 50:4-7 Psalm 22:8-9, 17-18, 19-20, 23-24. Philippians 2:6-11 Hebrews 5:7-9 Mark 14:1—15:47 Listen to more homilies...

03/18/18 The Root: Fruit or Root | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: Unknown

Homily from the Fifth Sunday of Lent. Is the change cosmetic? Or substantial? Transformation is a part of life. And Lent is all about allowing God to make us into the kind of people He has created and called us to be. And yet, many of us spend time focusing on the “fruits” of change rather than being attentive to the root. We can change cosmetically, but lasting change has to be substantial. This change has to reach the root. It has to be connected to our identity. And it has to flow from our relationship with our Father. Mass Readings from March 11, 2018: Jeremiah 31:31-34 Psalm 51:3-4, 12-13, 14-15 Hebrews 5:7-9 John 12:20-33 Listen to more homilies...  03/11/18 The Root: Radical | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: Unknown

Homily from the Fourth Sunday of Lent. God responds to our radical need with His radical love. Many people find it incredibly difficult to be honest...even with themselves. But unless we get past the surface to the root of what is truly in our hearts, not only will we not know ourselves, no one else will know us either. In our relationship with God, we need to be honest with what is in our heart, we need to entrust what we've found to Him, and we need to be vulnerable enough to receive His love. Mass Readings from March 11, 2018: 2 Chronicles 36:14-16, 19-23 Psalm 137:1-6 Ephesians 2:4-10 John 3:14-21 Listen to more homilies...
