Since 2009, the USGIF Young Professionals Group (YPG) has played a major role in advancing the geospatial intelligence tradecraft by utilizing the unique talents of the next generation of GEOINT leaders. At GEOINT 2012, the YPG has a number of unique events and activities that are very exciting and provide further opportunities for young GEOINT professionals to be further engaged with the community. As part of GEOINT Community Week happening next week, USGIF is hosting a workshop called “The Future of U.S. Commercial Remote Sensing,” which will touch upon the key topic of how the U.S. is contemplating scaling back its investment in commercial imagery assets, while a handful of other nations are accelerating their capabilities. This workshop will allow participants to hear from and ask questions of industry and government on this critical topic. Today, we are speaking with Josh Hartman, CEO of The Horizon Strategies Group and Principal, Center for Strategic Space Studies, as well as Mr. Kevin O’Connell, President and CEO, Innovative Analytics. Both gentlemen will be playing a major role at this event.

This group offers events and programs that parallel the Foundation’s mission of advancing the geospatial intelligence tradecraft. As part of our YPG podcast series, we have been interviewing a number of YPGers who are making a major difference in our community.
