LDQ #47 Larry, Curly, and Mojo | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 53:20

I hate the three stooges, HATE.. but I couldn't resist that title for this episode. Larry (Tina's hubby) did my intro and outtro..  I'm curly,,  and one of Tina's dogs is named Mojo :-) In this episode I give an update about the Twilter Round Robin. I talk about work, my current works in progress, and my visit with Tina.I had the best time hanging out with her and her husband. They are some of the nicest people I have ever met! We did feathers together!! She uses the hump and bump kind and they are awesome!     Go Quilt Something!

LDQ #46 All The Big Words | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 52:46

Ok, the words aren't that big, but I used several of them in a row. Today I talked about going to the dentist, a longarm quilting update, the quilts I've finished, or almost finished this week, trying feathers for the first tome on the longarm, Round Robin projects, vintage sewing machines.. Including my newest one, Elly. I talked about a lot of stuff! Give it a listen. Someone once told me I talk too much. Well, that's a lie, someone didn't tell me that, many someones have told me that! Here's Elly! Isn't she pretty?!     This is the 128 that I converted to a hand-crank. She still needs a name. She sews beautifully! She was made in 1923.     I love how this donation quilt came out, and I hope it fetches a tidy sum for the family in need of help with medical bills for their little girl who has cancer. I quilted meandering loops on it and I am loving that quilting design. I also used it on the Kiss My Grits quilt.     And something that I did not have time to talk about in today's podcast because I was almost late for work.. Someone surprised me with a gorgeous quilted postcard!! They signed it as "Guess Who" and since the postmark says MI, I'm wondering if it was Nonnie.. I'm not sure who else is from Michigan.. I LOVE IT!!! The pebbling is fantastic and the flower is just beautiful! Thank you so much, whomever you are! Now, fess up! :-) I hope you all have a wonderful weekend.. Go Quilt Something!

 LDQ #45 Learning to Longarm | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 38:21

Hi guys! In this episode I talk about learning to longarm quilt, even though I never thought it would be for me. I've been adding some ideas I'd like to try to a new pinterest board called Quilting Designs. You can also check out my other quilting boards; Modern Quilting, Quiltspiration, and Rainbow Quilts. This is the blog post with the example of gradation I spoke about. The quilt is called Gelato   Here's the tool I talked about. Todd's Catch n Cut     I talked about the quilt we made for our sweet friend, Frances. Yay Twilters!!     And this picture gives you a nice view of the lovely backing that Pam contributed, and the gorgeous label that Tina made. The label says, "True friends are like angels, You don't have to see them to know they are there. Made by Twilters for Frances Dowell. Quilted in February 2014 by Daisy Mier Fredericks." I included a card to Frances with all the names of everyone who helped make this, including those who sewed blocks or sent supplies or funds to help with shipping. Thank you to all of you who participated! I could not have gotten this done without all of you.   Go Quilt Something!

 LDQ #44 Fuhget I said that | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 33:06

Hey guys! Welcome to the most boring episode ever! Here's the machine that will be converted to a handcrank. A small section of it proves that the whole thing is going to shine up pretty nicely. This is a dirty, before picture. Ha.. dirty picture.. Go Quilt Something!

LDQ #43 A Trip to the Bong Shop | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 33:38

Hi guys!! This is a short episode to say hi and catch you up on what I'm doing. I talked about teaching my first quilting class. Here is that picture of Spring I promised. I hope it brightens your day while you wait for your winter to end.   And here's something to make you chuckle. Yes. Yes, Harry, you're right.   Go Quilt Something!

 LDQ #42 All Growed Up | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 39:43

I've been quiet lately, because I've been making some changes in my life. I'm sorta getting my sea legs in the working world. Here's where I'm spending my days... Quilts Bayou.. get it? Quilts.. made "by you"... Gotta love a good pun! It's a quick, brief episode that touches on the highlights. I'll be podcasting more soon as I settle into a comfortable routine of work and home. It's a big adjustment for me, since I've been a stay at home mom for so long. I love my job! Visit us at Quilts Bayou Online. I'm looking forward to this endeavor in particular.  LDQ #40 Hashtag! | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 27:17

I do apologize for the delay in getting this post and podcast out this week. As you can see I totally skipped the Tuesday Tute this week, also.. I hope to get back to that next week, but for now, we have a Twilter Giveaway Winner! Check out this episode to hear the winner announced. tease tease.. :-) I wish the lighting was better inside. It's too cold and wet to go take pics outside.. Hashtag   I recommended wattpad.com as a site and app where you can join a community of authors who offer their work for free, in serialized versions. I'm currently reading a book by Leigh Statham called Daughter4254 and I am loving this story! Forgive my little self reflection session at the end, but I feel better now, lol.   Special warm welcome to new listener Bev! Go quilt something!

 LDQ #38 It Is Well | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 47:02

Yay for fixed computers! in episode 38 I talked about a problem with my walking foot, and the fix I came up with. I hope it helps anyone who is also having this problem. At the end of this episode, I've included a recording from our duet at church last week. I was so nervous, but it helped to have JP standing up there with me. Excuse the shaky and off notes, and I hope it blesses your heart. Here's an example of the baby quilt design I suggested for JuliaP. You can add as many or as few stars as you'd like. See the previous post for the Tuesday Tutorial on the Friendship Star. And CLICK HERE ... and HERE  to see more examples of these baby name quilts. I have one I need to quilt and finish for "Logan Alexander" and I didn't use his middle name because the quilt would have been huge. He just turned a year old, maybe I should get on that!     I talked a little about favourite Christmas movies, and I asked, what's yours?   What's your favourite Christmas movie? It's a Wonderful Life (Jimmy Stewart) Miracle on 34th Street (Natalie Wood) White Christmas (Bing Crosby) A Christmas Story The Bishop's Wife (Cary Grant) Christmas in Connecticut (Barbara Stanwyck) Holiday Inn The Shop Around the Corner (Jimmy Stewart) Meet Me In St. Louis (Judy Garland) Holiday Affair (Janet Leigh) Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer Frosty The Snowman A Christmas Carol (George C.  LDQ #37 The Boring Episode | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 30:17

Hey Quilty Peoples! I hope you are doing well. In this, episode 37, I bore the snot out of you telling you what's going on in my life, and not offering any useful quilting information, whatsoever! HAH! How's that for honesty? Thank you to all the veterans who have proudly served our country! Sew with me today if you can.. use #vdsi on twitter to share what you're working on. Take a look at my handsome nephew who is in the army... He and his wife are currently expecting a baby.. ooh! I need to make another baby quilt! And a big sister quilt too.     PLEASE forgive my choppiness when talking about The Messiah Chorus in the podcast. My kids came in halfway through, and I had to pause for a bit and when I came back and talked more about it, I did not make a smooth transition. If you aren't familiar with George Frideric Handel, read the wiki page. He was an amazing man, and his work was truly inspired. Can you believe he wrote the entire musical composition in only 24 days!? Checkout this page for more info on The Lake Charles Messiah Chorus. Our current director, Colette Bulber Tanner,  is the daughter of the founder, Francis G Bulber. Very cool, and she does an amazing job! Listen to the Hallelujah Chorus by the Mormon Tabernacle Choir.I don't have a video of OUR choir, but I do have some audio recordings. I would have to get permission before sharing them on the podcast. There is a tradition of the audience standing for the Hallelujah chorus, which they are probably happy to do and stretch their legs during this long performance! Although I love it all, the harpsichord, the timpani, the bassoon, and the violins,  this piece, The Trumpet Shall Sound, is my favourite. That trumpet just goes right through you, it's so beautiful!     Go quilt something!

 LDQ #29 8 tips | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 39:00

This episode has 8 tips for quilting a large quilt on a small machine. You can do it! Here's the Kiss My Grits quilt top I mentioned. And the pink and brown one. I'm ready to put the blocks together and then add a border. The fabric is Love is in the Air by Deb Strain for Moda.     I don't have a twilter pic this week, time got away from me! Leave a comment telling me your favourite colour combination in quilting, and you get an entry into the twilter quilt giveaway.   Now, go quilt something!

 LDQ #28 Angry Elephant | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1:06:23

I hinted about a rant this week on twitter, but I decided to leave it out of this episode after all. I don't want to poke the psychopath's nest. If I keep this vague she can't stalk me over it and/or throw bricks through my window. :-P   In this episode, I bust a pinterest myth, talk about my longing for a vintage sewing machine, share an eggroll recipe, a cucumber pickle recipe and talk about my new love for flavour infused waters. I update you on my current projects, talk a bit about thread, (I said a bad word a couple times during the thread talk.. BS)  I say farewell to a loved podcast, and lament on a poor performance at church, but still look forward to becoming a rock star. I'll have pictures to share soon, of the finished Taste the Rainbow, and of what I'm quilting next, called Cake Sauce. Listen to the episode for the explanation of that particular word salad. I forgot to mention in the episode that Torie earned an entry into the Twilter Giveaway this week! Yay Torie! Thanks for listening! There will be a feedback segment in the next episode. I'm trying to do it every other one or so. Thank you for your comments! I love to hear from you guys! Now, go quilt something!   Eggrolls 5-6 skinless boneless chicken breasts, or 2 lbs ground beef Cabbage 2 cans beans sprouts 4-6 tablespoons sesame oil 1/2 - 1 cup soy sauce ground ginger garlic red pepper Cook the chicken, and then chop finely, or cook the beef and drain. Return the meat to a big pot, add shredded head of cabbage, and drained bean sprouts to pot. Season with ginger, garlic, red pepper to taste. (I use a LOT of ginger, a few teaspoons at least) Add soy sauce and sesame oil. About a half cup of soy, and several tablespoons of sesame oil. Cook over medium heat until mixture reaches the desired consistency. I like the cabbage soft, but it's a matter of personal taste. Roll each eggroll skin with about 2 tablespoons of mixture and fry them until golden brown. Listen to my description is this episode for more details.   Cucumber pickles One cuke, 2 tablespoons sesame oil, one or two teaspoons of apple cider vinegar, 1/2 teaspoon sugar, red pepper flakes, toasted sesame seeds to taste. Dump all ingredients in a bowl with a lid, shake, and enjoy. WIll keep several days in the fridge.

 LDQ #27 All of Me | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 29:22

First, some listener feedback, then a few quilting book reviews, a short quilty update, and a little ditty at the end. I thought it was time to sing for you again, since it's been a while. :-) Since I don't have any new quilt pictures to show you today, here's my grommet press that I plan to give new life to in my art quilting or "quilt memory book" making And here's what I used to do with it.. Me, in my former life as a costumer   Thanks for listening~

LDQ #26 Whole lotta quilting goin’ on | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 29:56

I've been working on Taste the Rainbow. I'm doing a lot of straight line quilting using my walking foot. Haven't done that in a while and I'm surprised how much less thread I use, than when I free motion quilt. The triangle ruler I used to cut out my patches for Taste the Rainbow is an old Omnigrid ruler that says "Mary Doheny 1988" on it! I'm also done with the latest jelly roll race that's not a jelly roll quilt. I pulled strips from my scraps, all different lengths. I like the effect. I hope you enjoy this short episode. I had a lot to talk about but it all sort of flew out my head the minute I started recording. Go Figure! As a special thanks to my listeners who stick with me through the quiet times, anyone who leaves a comment on this post, telling me what you're currently working on, gets an entry into the Twilter giveaway. Thanks! Avoir une bonne couture de temps!!!

 LDQ #25 Twilter Brigade | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1:04:25

You can use the hashtag #twilter when posting a pic if you want to be extra sure I catch it.       Enjoy this page about the Bad Sue quilt I talked about. Naughty, naughty Sue!!! Make sure you look at the close ups and read the descriptions of the blocks.. Hilarious stuff!   A note about blog comments : Thank you to all who take the time to comment. I love hearing from you! I seem to be having technical difficulties. Although I see your comments in my email and in my dashboard when I log in to edit and whatnot, the comments don't seem to be appearing on the blog page itself. This happened once before and I can't remember what I did that time to fix it. Any ideas? email me. In the meantime, please continue to comment if you can, I can still read them.   Notes From The VooDoo Lounge Bashful British Quilter aka Carolyn! Happy Quilting, my sweet Twilters!
