Da ich vorher noch nie in München gewesen war, haben wir natürlich zuerst die typischen Sehenswürdigkeiten abgeklappert. Wir waren am Rathaus, auf dem Viktualienmarkt, haben Weißwürste mit süßem Senf gegessen und im Englischen Garten die Füße in den Eisbach gestreckt. Nach dem Pflichtprogramm kam dann das Vergnügen. Einen Abend sind wir mit den Arbeitskollegen meiner Freundin in einen Biergarten gegangen und ich muss sagen, auch wenn ich große Menschenaufläufe eigentlich nicht mag, der Abend im Biergarten hat mir doch ganz gut gefallen. Wir setzten uns zum Glück nicht in das große Getümmel, sondern wählten einen Platz etwas am Rande des Biergartens. Von dort konnte man gut das geschäftige Treiben beobachten. Während es am Anfang noch recht leer war, strömten mit der Zeit immer mehr Menschen in den Biergarten, sodass nach einer Weile wirklich jeder Platz besetzt war. Da saß ein älteres Ehepaar neben einer Gruppe eines Junggesellenabschieds und eine Truppe junger Mädchen in Dirndln hatte ebenso ihren Spaß wie die Männer einer Altherren-Fußballmannschaft, die hinter uns saß. Ebenso interessant wie die Menschen war auch das Essen im Biergarten. Ich hatte schon vorher von meiner Freundin erfahren, dass man in einen Biergarten normalerweise das Essen selber mitbringt und hauptsächlich die Getränke vor Ort kauft. Also hatten wir auf dem Hinweg ein paar Brezeln für den Abend gekauft. Doch unsere „Brezn“, wie der Bayer sie nennt, waren nichts im Vergleich zu dem, was ein Kollege meiner Freundin und seine Frau mitbrachten. Im Grunde hatten sie alles eingepackt, was bei einer typischen bayrischen Brot zeit nicht fehlen darf - Neben Käse und Wurst gab es Radieschen, Rettich und bayrischem Obatzter, eine Creme aus Käse, Butter, Paprika und Zwiebeln. Sehr lecker! Und natürlich durfte eine richtige Maß Bier nicht fehlen! Die habe ich mir zwar mit meiner Freundin geteilt, aber trotzdem hatte ich einen tollen Abend im Biergarten. ----Formal English---- Beer Gardens I was recently visiting a friend in Munich. Since I had never been to Munich before, we naturally went out to see the typical list of sights. We went to the town hall, the Viktualienmarkt square, we ate veal sausage with sweet mustard, and dipped our feet in the creek at the English Garden. After the obligatory stuff came the enjoyment. One evening we went to a beer garden with the work colleagues of my friend, and I must say, even though I don't enjoy big crowds of people, the evening in the beer garden was very enjoyable. Luckily we weren't seated in the middle of the crowd, but rather chose a spot somewhat on the edge of the beer garden. From there we could watch the goings-on. While it was quite empty at the beginning, more and more people streamed in as time went on, so that after a while every spot was occupied. An elderly couple sat beside a group from a bachelor party, and a group of young girls in Dirndls had just as much fun as the men from an old guys' soccer team that were sitting behind us. The food in the beer garden was just as interesting as the people. I had found out previously from one of my friends that you're usually supposed to bring your own food to a beer garden, and you mainly purchase drinks while you're there. So on the way there, we bought a couple pretzels for the evening. But our "Brezn" (as the Bavarians call them) were nothing in comparison to the ones that my friend's colleague and his wife brought.
