THE TITLE of this week’s show is a reference to a wonderful exchange between a clothing designer and a host on the QVC shopping channel about whether the Moon is a planet or a star. Of course, it’s neither, but it led to a discussion of a panic 60 years ago when the U.S. government frantically searched for two “natural” satellites that appeared on radar, orbiting the equator at 400 miles and 600 miles above the Earth. We believe the UFO phenomenon is real, but it’s not what UFO true believers think it is. FIFTY-ONE YEARS ago today, President John F. Kennedy was assassinated in Dallas. What is not known to this day is exactly who killed the president and why. What is fairly certain is that the official conclusion of the Warren Commission is false, which begs the question: Who found it necessary to fabricate a lie? That day ushered in a new era of dissatisfaction and unrest that continues to this day. Maybe the scales fell from our eyes that day in Dallas, making us aware of the darkness that has been with us all along. Elsewhere: Pedophile rings in the UK coming to late decades after the fact; a string of apparently unconnected animal mutilations goes back decades; President Obama writes his own law again; and a plasma physicist believes an ancient Martian civilization was wiped out by nuclear blasts. THE AMERICAN public voted this week and swept the Republican Party to its largest majority in Congress since World War II. Exit polls showed that Democrats lost big with white voters this time around, which indicates that the country is beginning to divide politically along racial lines. This, of course, plays into the hands of the elites who will gladly keep up fighting one another so we don’t pay attention to the people behind the curtain. But the big story this week was the suicide of Brittany Maynard, a 29-year-old woman suffering from terminal brain cancer. Her death was facilitated by the assisted suicide law in Oregon and used by activists to promote their goals of legalizing death as a prescription for perceived suffering, and getting the government to assist. Also: Ferguson, Missouri prepares for more rioting; torture death of 3-year-old in Pennsylvania; cannibal killer in Wales; mysterious incest ring death investigated in Alabama; and Ebola statistics don’t add up. NEWS REPORTS from Iraq depict ISIS as a brutal terror organization that may force the American military to return. But until recently, the US government was sending money and weapons to these guys to help them fight the government of Syria. What in the world is going on over there?

THE KID wanted to be adored. Sadly, it appears that a lunatic fringe is giving Elliot Rodger in death what he claimed he never got in life.

SOMEONE SHOULD have warned First Lady Michelle Obama that appearing in a Twitter photo holding up a #BringBackOurGirls sign was a bad idea. It took about 15 minutes for the picture to be Photoshopped. Worse, it made the government of the United States look juvenile.

THE US and EU wasted no time in condemning the referendum in Crimea. According to reports from the area, nearly 80% of voters in the region turned out and over 90% voted in favor of seceding from Ukraine and rejoining Russia. The reaction of American and European leaders is ironic, considering that President Obama has defended the assassination of American citizens without due process, unrestricted NSA spying, and military action in support of the rights of Afghans, Iraqis, Libyans, and South Sudanese to determine their own political futures. THERE IS much talk in scientific communities lately about whether the universe is really real or simply a hologram. This is a concept that New Age teachers will exploit to advance the meme that all things are part of an all-encompassing living cosmos. Sharon and Derek discuss aspects of this idea and the very different prophetic vision of those who call themselves Christian, but, like those in the New Age movement, believe it's their duty to create heaven on Earth.

IN JUST the most recent example of how insecure our digital privacy is, we hear that the city of London has ordered an advertising company to quit using its wifi-enabled trash bins to track the serial numbers of passing smart phones. Renew, the company that makes the LCD-equipped bins, claims that they weren’t able to see information likes names, addresses, or passwords. However, the proof of concept demonstrates that the technology exists for other organizations — or government agencies — to do it. Also: NSA to fire 90% of its sysadmins; the rise of Google; violence in Egypt; “angel priest” comes forward; and the Sun is about to flip. SPIES HAVE dominated the news of late — the NSA spying scandal has revealed that the US government is basically tracking all our electronic communications. Today we discuss a couple of new revelations. First, CNN reports that the CIA had about three dozen operatives on the ground in Benghazi when the U.S. consulate was attacked last September. Why? They were apparently running guns, shipping missiles from Libya to the rebels in Syria. What could possibly go wrong? Second, a secretive joint venture of the NSA, CIA, IRS, FBI, and DEA called the SOD — Special Operations Division — is sending intercepted data to local law enforcement so police can arrest American citizens — who aren’t supposed to be targets of the NSA or CIA ever — for mundane crimes like selling drugs. BIOLOGISTS THIS week announced the discovery of a giant virus, up to ten times larger than most. The supersized virus, named Pandoravirus, is thought to be the biggest ever found. Interestingly, researchers say that “only 6% of its genes resembled genes seen before in other organisms on Earth.” Of course, one of the researchers added that means the virus — wait for it — may have come from another planet, such as Mars. Also: Massacre in Afghanistan linked to anti-malarial drug; Vatican offers indulgences to followers of the Pope’s tweets; massive solar eruption shoots past Earth; Google Glass hacked for spies; and the NSA inserts its own code into Android OS — meaning 3/4 of all smart phones.
