PERHAPS THE biggest mystery facing scholars and students of end times prophecy is the identity of the man of lawlessness, the son of perdition -- the Antichrist. One interesting theory, especially in light of the recent political turmoil in the Middle East, is that the Antichrist will be Islamic. AMERICA'S SECURITY depends, in part, on how it treats Israel. So says David Brennan, author of The Israel Omen and The Israel Omen II. Since 1991, there have been thirteen documented catastrophes that have occurred with timing that has coincided with efforts to remove the "Promised Land" from Israel. PRESIDENT OBAMA plans to bring millions of Muslims to America. That claim by author and former IDF spokesman Avi Lipkin will no doubt raise eyebrows (and possibly blood pressure). Lipkin, who spoke at the Prophecy Summit at Branson on the threat posed by radical Islam, claims that a looming war in the Middle East will lead to a flood of Muslim refugees landing in the United States. Agree or disagree, it's an interview worth hearing if only to hear a different perspective on the political and religious situation in the Middle East. WE DIDN'T actually spend a lot of time discussing a proposal to power America's growing force of drone aircraft with nuclear reactors, but it makes for a catchy title. Imagine, though, the surveillance and strike capability of drones that can stay aloft for years instead of days. The trouble, of course, isn't flying the drones; it's landing them again. The good news is that "political pressures" appear to have killed the program. IT'S A collection of disturbing stories loosely connected by a theme: People doing bad things for what appears to be no sensible reason. Specifically, the massacre of 17 Afghan civilians by one (or more) American soldiers; a teen in Kansas City set afire by two older boys; the bizarre public display by Jason Russell, producer of the Kony 2012 video; and a strange "nodding sickness" that is apparently turning thousands of African children into mindless, fire-setting zombies. AN AMERICAN soldier is in custody after allegedly breaking into a number of homes in a village near Kandahar early Sunday and killing 16 people, nine of them children. Coming after a wave of violence against U.S. and NATO troops, this may further inflame the population against coalition forces. It seems to us that we've reached a point where continued occupation of Afghanistan serves no real purpose. Also: McCain stumps for war against Syria; Panetta says the president only needs "international permission" to attack; Pentagon gives Boeing $80 million to build a better MOP to clean out Iran's nuclear bunkers; State Department gives Camp Liberty in Iraq to MEK -- which is on its list of foreign terror organizations; Greece officially defaults; SPLC claims 755% growth in American militias since Obama took office (link to report PDF file); and unexplained explosion caught on Phoenix TV traffic report. A 900-year-old prophecy attributed to Máel Máedóc Ua Morgair, better known to us as St. Malachy, appears to point to the end line of popes ending with the successor to Pope Benedict XVI. Furthermore, there is evidence that suggests that this Petrus Romanus, or Peter the Roman, may be the False Prophet John wrote about in the Book of Revelation. SOMETIMES WE come across stories that seem important and connected, but we just can't get our minds completely around them. Try these on for size. * Lord James of Blackheath, whom you might remember for his "Foundation X" speech in 2010 (link opens YouTube video), stated in the House of Lords Thursday (2/16) that he's been investigating for the last two years an attempted fraud or money laundering scheme, possibly involving the government of the U.S. or the Federal Reserve Bank, in the neighborhood of $15 trillion. (The 2012 budget of the United States, by comparison, is about $3.8 trillion.) * Eight people were arrested in Italy Friday (2/17) in possession of $6 trillion in counterfeit U.S. bonds. That's double the size of Italy's national debt (and again, nearly double the annual budget of the U.S.). * A quick look through Google News reveals a number of arrests for trafficking in large quantities of counterfeit U.S. government bonds ($134 billion in Italy, $875 billion in Malaysia, $2 trillion in the Philippines, etc.) over the past ten years. If we assume that some counterfeiters actually get away with their crimes, we have to wonder: How much phony U.S. debt is out there? How much of it is in the hands of supposedly stable financial institutions? Is any of it actually being circulated intentionally by those institutions? And how does that affect the state of the global economy? The mind reels. Also: Whitney Houston, Nicki Minaj, and this year's bizarre Grammy awards; the Beatles and the Tavistock Institute; the FBI foils its own terror plot -- again (and see this 1993 article about how much the FBI knew about the first World Trade Center bombing before it happened); and two women sue a clinic in suburban St. Louis for implanting false memories of Satanic abuse. SIR ISAAC NEWTON apparently devoted his life to much more than the basic laws of physics. According to David Flynn, author of the new book Temple at the Center of Time: Newton's Bible Codex Finally Deciphered and the Year 2012, Newton was very close to finding an amazing mathematical key to end times prophecy. Quoting from Sharon's review: In Temple at the Center of Time, Flynn follows the trail left by Newton and others who sought the prisca sapientia or 'ancient widsom' of men like Plato, Pythagoras, and King Solomon. This isn't a wizard's hunt for the Philosopher's Stone -- far from it. It's so much more -- a journey to unlock the quantifiable definitions inherent within God's ordered universe. There is no hocus pocus here, only sound logic and reproducible mathematics. Oh, yes, and David may also have found the location of the lost Ark of the Covenant.
