In grocery stores, drugs stores and even Costco type big box stores there is an isle featuring incontinence products. A variety of diapers and pads are available to prevent leakage from showing or damaging clothing. And the problem is growing as the population ages. Late Night Health takes a look at the male incontinence with leading urologist Gary Leach, MD. Dr. Leach has written numerous articles in many publications about the problem. Currently Dr. Leach is the Director, Tower Urology Institute for Continence.Incontinence, in both men and women, has vast psychological implications as well as physical issues. It's obvious that incontinence for both men and women is embarrassing. Not being able to control your bladder is not something people look forward to.Dr. Leach examines the causes of incontinence in men with host Mark Alyn. One of the most common causes of the lack of control is a number of prostate troubles. These include cancer, enlarged prostate and even the surgical removal of the prostate. During surgery the can be damage to the sphincter muscles, which are supposed to contract to prevent urine from flowing out of the bladder. This damage results in some degree of incontinence and is very common after prostate surgery. The good news is incontinence is easily treatable. There are drugs that can help along with surgical technology that fix the problems. Many patients report that the outcome from surgery fixes the leakage.Regaining urinary control is a big deal. The common fear of patients suffering from incontinence is "I can't go out of my house because I don't know what will happen when I'm out." With the advancement of surgical techniques patients no longer need to worry.air date: 7/29/16

 Let Them Eat Carbs! (Part 3) - Dave Foreman 7/29/16 | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 841

“A lot of the weight loss advice that has been touted is based on flawed science,” says David Foreman, known as “The Herbal Pharmacist,” who started his career as a registered pharmacist and now uses his expertise in physiology, pharmacology and integrative medicine to educate consumers on cutting edge approaches to natural health and healing. “We can now prove that saturated fat does not cause heart disease, and full fat dairy products may actually help protect the heart.”A new report from the National Obesity Forum (NOF) and the Public Health
Collaboration is demanding a major
over haul in dietary guidelines stating that
the low-fat and low-cholesterol message
touted for the past 40 years, has resulted in
an increased consumption of junk food and
carbohydrates, which has resulted in
astronomical obesity levels that show no
sign of abating despite the best efforts of
officials and scientists. One of the key conclusions of the
NOF report: Evidence from multiple trials
reveals that a higher-fat, lower carbohydrate
diet is superior to a low-fat diet for weight
loss and cardiovascular risk reduction. The
report says that processed foods labeled as “low-fat,” “lite,” and “low cholesterol,” should be avoided at all costs. And a new consumer survey shows the confusion on carbs runs even deeper: 30 percent of the time Americans are unable to identify which foods contain the most starch, providing another insight into the obesity crisis.David Foreman talks to Mark Alyn about how weaning yourself off of carbs can be the most difficult task on any diet, but, he says, science is now showing us simple ways to turn your favorite carbs into healthier ones so you can enjoy more, while absorbing less. Dave talks about some of the most popular carb-rich foods and how to change their composition to reduce the impact to your waistline.air date 7/29/16

 It's Not My Fault - Moments with Robert 7/29/16 | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 351

Having a poor attitude affects life including your health. Being positive is not always easy. Life throws things in our way, but we need to adjust and figure out the best way to overcome obstacles in an upbeat manner. Traveling through life with a constant scowl on your face is not healthy for you and certainly not for the people around you. Having a poor attitude keeps people away as if negative energy blasts people, opportunity and health away. Work hard at staying confident in what you do and you'll find your way to a happy life.  Look Up In The Sky - Chemtrails (Part 1) - Hans Kluger 6/24/16 | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 714

The biosphere, the part of the earth where people live, is being attacked. The war against planet earth is either a natural occurrence or a deliberate act. It is yet to be officially determined. Dr. Hans Kluger, a biochemist, says we are in trouble as the earth is being poisoned. Kluger believes this to be a deliberate act for world manipulation via inducing (wanted or destructive) weather patterns anywhere in the world. The reason is the bottom line: more profits for the oil companies. Some scientists knew about chem trails as early as 1996. Many have offered their thoughts and opinions to government agencies, but governments around the world have ignored such comments. Chemtrails are designed to reduce global warming, but some research has indicated they do not work. The definition of chemtrails are chemicals, mostly aluminum, sprayed in the atmosphere at 30,000 feet. Hans is concerned with a variety of environmental issues that he believes is damaging the earth. One his major areas of study are GMOs (generically modified organisms) that are harming farming and crops. Some studies suggest that GMO products are not save, even causing tumors on mice in lab experiments (note: Late Night Health does not like any research done on animals). Mark Alyn talks with Dr. Kluger as he shares information about a wide range of issues concerning the impact of poor science on the lives of people throughout the world. His ideas to clean up the environment include the reduction of carbon dioxide production by reducing the use of carbon fuels (oil and coal). Next, increasing the use of clean sources of energy, from solar electricity, to wind power, geothermal and hydropower. And last begin a program of re-planting trees. Trees help to balance the carbon dioxide ratios decreasing global warming in a natural way.air date: 6/24/16

 Stop the Pain - Lillie Rosentha, D.O. - 6/24/16 | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 840

PAIN is a massive problem that affects 125 million Americans who are spending close to $300 billion on pills, pot, procedures and natural remedies to find relief. These numbers are fueling a national conversation
about pain relief and how it should be
addressed. Are doctors responsible for the
painkiller epidemic or is it the patient’s fault?According to Dr. Lillie Rosenthal, DO, a board- certified physical medicine and rehabilitation physician in New York City, patients in pain are often looking for quick relief and frequently ask their doctor for a painkiller. It’s really important that doctors take the time to assess the root cause of the patient’s pain and explore the best protocol for immediate and long-term relief. She also says that pain medication may be
an ineffective treatment and frequent use of
over-the-counter painkillers can be a slippery slope to addiction. She says pain is your body’s way of alerting you to an underlying problem that needs to be resolved, not masked.Dr. Lillie Rosenthal, DO is talks with Mark Alyn about some of the three most common pain complaints also she will share diet, lifestyle changes and natural remedies that can help pain sufferers get relief from1) Muscle Pain: Tension, stress, overuse and minor injuries are the most common causes of muscle pain. osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, bursitis, gout, strains, sprains and other injuries. Joint pain can affect any part of your body but knee pain is the most common complaint. Andrea Pass, Vice President, Media Relations for award-winning Marketing Maven Public Relations (www.MarketingMavenPR.com), recently traveled the Mediterranean on a 12-day Royal Caribbean (www.RoyalCaribbean.com) cruise. She spoke with Mark Alyn “Late Night Health Radio” to highlight the adventure while keeping good health in mind.Weeks before the cruise consider eating healthy as much as you can. And you can come back from your travels without gaining any weight! With long-days at port and a late dinner seating, it is always important to plan in advance. Eat a breakfast high in protein to increase energy during land excursions including the Acropolis or standing outside of The Vatican in almost 100 degree temperatures. Stay hydrated and remember to carry a water bottle and to re-fill throughout the day.A great way to see the sites in Florence, Rome and Athens was to arrange private tours. Pass connected with travel buddies through www.TripTogether.com to fill the private excursion with like-minded travelers. In this case, she was looking for English-speaking, non-smoking companions who were comfortable with walking, hiking and being out in the heat for extended periods of time. Meeting new friends through TripTogether balanced the trip and kept it moving at a rapid pace since there are limited hours in each port. When on a cruise, take the stairs. While there are many cruisers who wait on line for elevators, by taking the steps, you’re certainly burning more calories and staying in shape. The gym on cruise ships has every imaginable piece of equipment.  Circle of Promise - Breast Cancer (Part 1) - Mark Pilon 7/15/16 | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 714

Breast cancer impacts people from all ethnic backgrounds. However, there are significant differences in the mortality rates among racial groups. African American women diagnosed with breast cancer in the United States have a mortality rate that is 42 percent higher than their Caucasian counterparts. This disparity is even greater in Los Angeles where African American women are dying of breast cancer at rates 70 percent higher than Caucasian women are. The Circle of Promise initiative was created to help diminish this health disparity gap while simultaneously creating a cultural shift that will change the outcome for African Americans diagnosed with breast cancer.Mark Pilon, Executive Director of the Susan G. Komen Los Angeles County talks about reaching out to the African American community to provide information, education and testing on Late Night Health with Mark Alyn. The California Circle of Promise is an initiative addressing breast cancer disparities among African Americans at the system, community, and individual levels. The initiative serves the unique needs of African American women, 40 and above, who are rarely or never screened for breast cancer in order to provide access to quality breast health care services. The goal of the initiative is to empower African American women with the knowledge, information and resources to enter and seamlessly move through a quality, culturally competent and coordinated system of breast health care. In some instances, this means bringing the services directly to the community in the form of a mobile breast cancer screening event and/or grass roots health education programs. The Los Angeles County Circle of Promise could not have accomplished these goals and reached this population of women without the help of our community partners, stakeholders, and sponsors. Their collaborative efforts have allowed us to do substantial work in the community these past two years. We are incredibly grateful for their partnership and the opportunity to work together to create a positive breast health movement for African American women in Los Angeles County.air date: 4/15/16
