 Episode #163: Daylight Saving Time | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:26:11

For now anyway, it's an annual right of passage from the cold, wintry months to the springtime transition. Daylight Saving Time begins this weekend. When and where did DST get it's start? What should we do with it now that we are no longer an agrarian society? --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/andrebernier/support

 Episode #162: Fooler's Spring | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:14:09

 Episode #160: What Is A "Planet?" | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:18:18

The official astronomical definition of a "planet" changed in 2006. When it did, the planet we all knew as Pluto lost its classification! So what is the definition of a planet? It hinges on three criteria, the last of which caught Pluto on the short end of the stick. Let's expand on this topic as well as an interesting target in our post-sunset March sky, and some stunning photos from the surface of Jupiter! --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/andrebernier/support

 Episode #159: It's March! | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:12:37

Be encouraged! While March can be a fickle month, it will invariably bring increasing hints of warmer days. Let's review February and see if we can detect any patterns setting up for the merry month of March. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/andrebernier/support

 Episode #158: Open Line Friday for February 26, 2021 | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:16:48

Today, I highlight one call from my WeatherJazz Podcast Audience Coinnect Line (234-525-5888) that sure sounds like Gabe Spiegel to me. The question deals with my mustache! Then, a clip from WKJA, Heartfelt Radio from this morning. Mark Zimmerman interviewed Wayne Shepherd about the interview he gave me for his syndicated radio program, First Person. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/andrebernier/support

Episode #157: The Weather On Mars | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:20:57

What is the weather like on Mars? What are the similarities and differences between earth and Mars? With the recent successful landing of the NASA Martian rover, Perseverance, many people have asked these questions and more. Let's explore as well as listen to NASA's Mission Control audio as Perseverance made it's landing attempt. The actual HD video of the landing from the probe's cameras can be watched on my show notes at WeatherJazz.com, Episode #157. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/andrebernier/support

 Episode #156: A Kinder, Gentler Pattern | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:14:10

Wow... it's amazing how much nicer "normal temperatures" feel like after being pummeled with almost three weeks of arctic air! Until yesterday (Sunday), the last time we experienced a 32°F high temperature was briefly on February 12th and all the way back to on February 5th. The medium and long range "teleconnections" are now pointing to a return to the progressive pattern with only a few modest pushes of cold air into the Great Lakes.  Episode #155: Open Line Friday For February 19, 2021 | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:30:05

I have a listener question about the conditions that precede the development of windshield frost on vehicles in the morning. I'll also continue my conversation with meteorologist Jeff Kennedy, formerly from KWWL-7, Waterloo, Iowa, about his cat Tubby (photo on WeatherJazz.com) along with Jeff's fascinating faith journey that parallel's mine in so many ways.  Episode #154: Bracing For A BIG Snowfall | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:19:44

It's a crazy busy start to the week so we will not waste any time and dive right in to the upcoming storm details for NEOhio. We will be in the highest impact zone for heavy snow Monday night and early Tuesday morning.  Episode #153: Heartfelt Radio | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:19:09

One year ago on February 14th, a new radio station powered up in the greater Cleveland area. WKJA, 91.9 FM started serving NEOhio. Those of you who live in Ohio are likely aware of the friendly voice of Mark Zimmerman. He and co-host Gabrielle Speaks host the morning program (5:30 AM to 9:00 AM Eastern US time, M-F). We had a wonderful "happy anniversary" segment on the air this morning, so I thought it would be fun to re-release that segment that aired at 8:30 AM this morning for Open Line Friday! Note: My song selection, "Miracle" by Tauren Wells, can be heard by clicking on the video link on WeatherJazz.com, Episode #153. (It was edited out of the podcast segment for copyright compliance.) --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/andrebernier/support

 Episode #152: The Skywarn Program | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:30:01

While most of NEOhio looks out the window and makes plans to enjoy the wintry weather, Freddie Zeigler from the National Weather Service Cleveland office is preparing for spring and summer severe weather season. He is coordinating the Skywarn program that will train anyone who is interested how to spot and report weather issues as we approach severe thunderstorm season. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/andrebernier/support

 Episode #151: Current Cold Stretch | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:13:13

So far, every single day in the month of February has come in with below normal temperatures. Is that typical? How much longer will it last? Plus, Utquiagvik (formerly known as Barrow, Alaksa) has set a new barometric pressure record. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/andrebernier/support

 Episode #150: Open Line Friday for February 5, 2021 | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:24:57

It's Open Line Frrrrriday! In addition to a couple of interesting audience photos and questions, I also tell you the (easy) secret to making your OWN foaming hand soap. It will not only save you money, but you can also control the scent of the soap. Let's get started! --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/andrebernier/support

Episode #149: Why Does Snow "Squeak" Underfoot? | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:20:20

I'm sure you noticed over last weekend that the freshly fallen snow "squeaked" when you walked on it. Why does that happen and when does that happen? Additionally, Frank in Norwalk asked a great question relating to changes in snow pack over time. Also, is the Groundhog Day forecast legitimate or is it just a fun fable? Let's dig in! --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/andrebernier/support
