Well, nobody ever accused famed Italian horror director Lucio Fulci of making classy films. Or even comprehensible ones.
Does it hold up after all these years? Listen and find out. And thanks for YOUR loyal listenership and support after all these years. You guys keep this fun for us, which keeps us going and going. Happy 2020!
And yes, the similarity is strong: A young boy is forced to use traps to protect his home after a menacing Santa slides down his chimney. Although it's much darker than most holiday movies, what we found in this forgotten French flick was a lot of heart and a fun ride. Recently remastered, you can now catch it exclusively on the Shudder network.
This Friday the 13th knockoff may be full of Christmas imagery, but that can't save it from being hilariously bad. A killer Santa stalks a bunch of super-horny teenage girls and their boyfriends. Sound familiar?
And we make history by reviewing the very first Indian film ever on our podcast. If you're so inspired to see it yourself, check it out on Netflix now. Enjoy!
With early CGI morphing in all its glory, in-your-face incest, tons of celebrity cameos, and some fairly brutal violence, it doesn't hold much back. You just kinda wish it turned out better as a result.
And it's a real turkey. But it does star Jake of "Body By Jake" fame! Where ya at, our 80's kids?
Alligator has nothing remarkable about it, except that there are some remarkable people involved in it, and it has an inexplicable 80% plus fresh rating at Rotten Tomatoes. Who can figure this out? We can't.
All Hallows' Eve
This is Jim Carrey's big breakthrough - his first starring role as a frustrated teenage virgin who can't get his girlfriend to give it up, so he turns to a female vampire instead and gets more than he bargained for. It's goofy as hell and 80's through-and-through, which means we more or less loved it.
Perfect for the season, and also a "perfectly serviceable film" by our standards, with a "smooookin' hot" guy leading the action.
We're resurrecting Rob Zombie's first full-length feature film, House of 1000 Corpses, and tearing it limb from limb. But mostly we're enjoying Haig's turn as the wacky-yet-intimidating Captain Spaulding, the clown with a murder ride in his gas station. Fried chicken, anyone?
We love this Canadian teenage werewolf story from the early aughts. Happy Halloween season!
Braindead is often cited as the goriest film ever made, and it's hard to dispute. But it's a big favorite of Todd's, and a request from at least one of our listeners over the years. Enjoy!
