Women Empowering Women - Why Women Entrepreneurs can't succeed without Community | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 3151

For many women we have been told how to think, what to wear and how to behave from a very early age and so many of our current beliefs and ways of thinking have been ingrained in us from early childhood. These social parameters placed on us, even the most subliminal ones, have created behaviors and ways of thinking for women that has chameleon-ed us into alternate forms of ourselves unable to fully express our true authenticity because it goes against everything we have been taught as a young child and is a method of emotional and physical self preservation. This has led to many women, especially women entrepreneurs and leaders, to question themselves, to shut down theirintuition and inner voice and feel lost, misunderstood and out of place in the world.Join founder Maria Fuller and entrepreneur Jaime Sullivan in an intimate conversation on women empowerment, woman in business, personal development, women leadership and the power of women centered communities.

Powerful Girls - Meet Megan Grassell founder of Yellowberry | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1937

Our guest today Megan Grassel. When Megan was 17 years old she took her little sister Mary Margaret shopping for her first Bra. They  scoured the mall to find a product that she was excited about, but ended up being completely appalled at all of the bra options that were not only available for her little sister, but also marketed to her and girls her age. Padding, push-up features and underwire galore… Megan could not believe that these were the bras that girls were supposed to wear! She  saw something wrong with that entire experience. In fact, it was a day that she could not stop thinking about. Why wasn’t there just a cute, colorful and comfortable bra for Mary Margaret to fit her and her body, not the body that she was “supposed” to have? The answer was that there simply wasn’t one. That is when Megan realized that if no one else was going to make bras specifically for girls, then she was going to find a way to do it herself. Armed with her own hand-drawn pattern on her dad’s yellow legal pad and the small savings she had earned from her summer job bussing tables, she moved forward with this idea. As a junior in high school in 2014, Megan founded , Yellowberry,  to change the bra industry for girls." In 2014, Megan was selected as one of TIME Magazine’s 25 Most Influential Teens and included on Huffington Post’s list of 14 Most Fearless Teens. In 2015, Megan was named one of the 24 Millennials to Watch by Yahoo. In 2016 Megan was named one of Forbes Magazines 30 under 30.  She has been featured in countless media outlets including The TODAY Show, The New York Times, Fast Company, Inc. Magazine, Forbes Magazine, Seventeen and Teen Vogue among others. r

Positive Media for Girls: STRONG- The Magazine for Girls | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1860

Our guest today is Sarah Beach, founder, editor and publisher of “STRONG The Magazine for Girls”. Beach was brought up during the Thatcher years in the 1980s in the UK.  With a woman in power,  Beach believed she could do or be anything she wanted to be. At age 22, with a degree in Politics and History from the University of Keele under her belt, she moved to London where she became one of the youngest Parliamentary Advisers in Westminster. Now a mother to three kids, a boy and two girls, Beach stopped paid work when she had her son in 2003, choosing to stay home and raise her family. Throughout the early years of her children’s lives, Beach remained active in the community, writing newsletters for the local NCT (National Childbirth Trust), helping out on the PTA when the kids were in pre-school and elementary, and running a Girl Scout troop. To this day she serves on the board of directors for her local children's theater. She also worked as a pre-school teacher for three years.By early 2017, as her two daughters were growing up, Beach was becoming increasingly alarmed about the impact society was having on them and their hopes and dreams for the future. Against the backdrop of a changing America, she decided to create a new publication aimed at empowering and inspiring tween and teen girls. After a successful Kickstarter campaign, the first issue of STRONG was published in September 2017. STRONG focuses on presenting strong female role models, as well as teaching girls practical skills to encourage independence. It also focuses on responsibility, encouraging girls to take responsibility for their own bodies and minds, and tolerance, with regular articles focusing on girls from other countries and cultures.  STRONG encourages girls to be confident to be themselves, and to be the best version of themselves.
