This is a bonus episode of the Joyfully Homeschooling podcast. A few weeks ago I sent out a survey asking what your biggest homeschool fears, struggles, and questions are. The response was overwhelming and I am realizing there are many of you who are still letting fear zap your joy. God gave your children to YOU and equipped to provide them with everything they need to be successful adults. I chose a few homeschool questions for this episode that some of you asked specifically for me. So, here we go!

Hello everyone and welcome to a brand new year and a brand new season of the Joyfully Homeschooling podcast!! Season 3 kicks off today and I am so excited to start it off talking about how to overcome the homeschool comparison trap. I think starting the year and season off with this one is perfect because it makes a fantastic New Years Resolution! In this episode, I share a day that changed my homeschool. A day when I realized that the comparison trap was alive and well in the Bailey home.

As you all know Homeschooling, is something love it! BUT, when we first started I honestly didn’t know how long we would do it. I knew it was best for our family at that moment, but in the back of my head, I knew we had other options and may not homeschool long term. However, as I shared earlier this season we are in it for the long haul and the truth is I am SO thankful for the blessing that it is to our family and these blessings can be tied back to three areas. Faith, Health and Freedom.

In this episode of the Joyfully Homeschooling Podcast, we are chatting homeschool joys and struggles with Shelly Sangrey from There is No Place Like Home and she shares how there is no such thing as a perfect homeschool.  You can homeschool because YOU know what is best for your kids. Misty and Shelly also share their struggles with patience and overcoming it. What does this mean? You can homeschool, even if you're not a patient person.

Public school, it is the go-to choice for so many parents.  They send their kids to public school for socialization, an education, and because it is the societal norm. Since I've been homeschooling, I've had a few run-ins with the public school and got a peek into what life would be like if I was a public school parent.   And, the reality is I would be a HORRIBLE public school parent. There are a few reasons why and let them be a reminder to you of the benefits of homeschooling. 

Guys! I am so excited to share with you this interview with my real life friend Latonya Moore from Joy in the Ordinary. Latonya has been homeschooling since 2009, and her girls are in 6th and 8th just like mine. We chat planning and grading, flexibility, and homeschooling in Tennesse. She talks about how her goal is to be MOM more than teacher which I know is a struggle many of us have. I remember years ago helping a good friend of mine homeschool her ADHD child.  This child and I butted heads a lot. He was a great kid, but OH he was SO hyper.
