Joyfully Homeschooling

After all of these years of homeschooling, I am still learning things. Homeschooling has taught me so much, and I am so grateful for it. I think we start of homeschooling thinking we are going to teach our kids, but in reality, I think sometimes God calls us to homeschool so He can teach us a thing or two. And those homeschool lessons aren’t always easy. I am sharing three important lessons I have learned from homeschooling. I am chatting patience, prayer time, comparison and so much more. 

In this episode of the Joyfully Homeschooling podcast, we chat with the author of Sonlight Curriculum, Sarita Holzmann, the founder of Sonlight Curriculum. I enjoyed chatting missions, literature, cultivating a love for reading and so much more in this episode. I learned so much about Sonlight, we chatted about some of our favorite books, and I left the episode encouraged and equipped to raise some readers!

I loved chatting with Stefani about homeschooling and she offered an interesting perspective as a second generation homeschooler. I really enjoyed chatting with Stefani about personalities and TRULY getting to know her kids. That is one awesome benefit of homeschooling. When your kids are with you each and every day you can truly tailor their education to fit their needs. I love that reminder that they are people, NOT just hindrances to work around. What a great reminder of what really matters.

At some point in our homeschool journey, most of us will deal with homeschool kids who want to go to school.   So, let’s take a look at what we can do when the situation arises.

I love the reminder Jamie gives us to embrace the differences each of our kids and the difference in education they get from their mom through the years. We can pick and choose what we can do with our kids, and remember that education is not a lather, rinse and repeat.  What a great reminder when we are homeschooling multiple kids!

On this episode of the Joyfully Homeschooling podcast, we are tackling homeschool fears.  Over and over again I hear from moms about their fears. They want to homeschool well, but fear stops them. They want to love homeschooling, but as soon as they are happy in their methods they think they are missing something. They want to step out and trust the Lord on the BIG things He is calling them to, but fear stops them in their tracks. This episode is ALL about conquering those homeschool mom fears.  

In this episode, we are going to talk about how to enjoy homeschooling instead of worrying about whether or not we are doing enough in our homeschool. Too often times we worry about being too relaxed in our homeschool. We worry about “keeping up” or letting the kids “fall behind” and in doing so we don’t actually stop and enjoy our kids. We also chat about how to recognize if you ARE doing enough in your homeschool.

Homeschool regret is one thing that I believe heavily weighs us down as homeschool moms. And that is why I believe it is SO important to share our regrets. In this weeks episode, I am chatting with Cindy West of Our Journey Westward. We chat about confidence in homeschooling, gifted kids, special needs, and so much more. Cindy is so full of wisdom and after 18 years of homeschooling, we can all learn a lot from her. So, without further ado, here is my interview with Cindy.

Today we are going to chat about how to recognize and prevent homeschool burnout, how to overcome it, and the lessons we can learn from it.

Yvette struggled early on with feeling inadequate to homeschool, but through the years she has decided to embrace the idea of slowing it down and taking it easy.
