We Just Saw A Movie

Reboot Alert! We're back to talk Tomb Raider, the uninspired reboot of the uninspired adaptation of the mediocre video game. Actually, we didn't play it so we don't know if it was mediocre. If the movies are any indication, it was. While it was a bland film, this episode is anything but as we had a fun time ripping it apart. We end on Mike giving a rambling plug for Elizabeth's Instagram (https://www.instagram.com/elizabethreid), which features her awesome portraits of movie stars. 

And the Academy Award for "Movie with the Worst Timing" goes to....Death Wish! Mike saw this one by himself, but Elizabeth is still on hand to hear him recount the gory details. We talk about the film and about how Elizabeth kicked Mike out of the house, leading him to see this ill-fated remake of the Charles Bronson classic. 

We're back with a review of the sequel nobody asked for, Pacific Rim: Uprising. We saw this one in IMAX 3D at the AMC Lincoln Center 13 - pound for pound one of the best screens in the country. We give our review of the film and talk about the trailer for Rock's new film Skyscraper (aka Die Hard with One Leg). Bonus - this episode may feature one of Mike's shakiest intros ever. There's something for everybody. 

It's our second annual March Madness episode! No movie review - today we're just giving our 2018 NCAA Tournament picks. Mike asks Elizabeth to give her rationale for a lot of her picks while displaying his blind homerism for Virginia Tech, plus we make some big bets on a few unlikely outcomes. For the Venn Diagram of college basketball and movie fans (of which Elizabeth predicts there are none), this is a can't-miss episode. 

In our latest episode we review A Wrinkle In Time. We discuss how it stacks up to the book as well as Elizabeth's kinship with anyone sharing her last name of Reid. Plus we review the trailers for Mary Poppins Returns, Hotel Transylvania 3, and Christopher Robin.

We know this episode is labeled as a review of Game Night. If we're being honest, we do not talk about the movie much. This is another free-wheeling episode where we talk about the new Venom trailer, Mike's confusion with the appeal of the "home invasion" sub-genre, and whether or not Elizabeth would like The Godfather. Oh, and we discuss Game Night a little bit too. Fans of our banter will love this one. People looking for a hardcore review of Game Night? We don't know what to tell you. 

On our latest episode, we review Annihilation, starring Natalie Portman, Tessa Thompson, and Oscar Isaac. We also discuss the trailer for Hereditary, Mike's problem with how much walking was shown in the movie, and why Elizabeth thought Holly Hunter was in it (she wasn't). 

We're back for the "Elizabeth's Birthday" edition of Bad Movie Friday. This week we celebrate the birth of this podcast's better half with a review of 2016 Hallmark movie "Anything for Love." The title has literally nothing to do with the plot. Here's the synopsis from IMDB: "A high-powered executive lies about her career on her dating profile, while her match also hides his true identity." See? In what way does that translate to "Anything for Love" making a lick of sense here?  

We're back with a review of Paul Thomas Anderson's latest, Phantom Thread. We talk about what made the movie so great and Elizabeth casts doubts on Daniel Day-Lewis's "retirement" announcement, comparing it to Jay Z's. 

On our latest episode, we're joined by our friends Kate and Warren to discuss Black Panther. In this wide ranging episode, we also discuss the trailer for Solo, the trailer for Ant-Man and Wasp, and inexplicably, a deep dive into the careers of both Michael Douglas and Tom Cruise. The Godfather. Lord of the Rings. The Dark Knight. All great trilogies. But they pale in comparison to the epic tale of Fifty Shades of Grey, Fifty Shades Darker, and the final installment, the magnum opus...Fifty Shades Freed. In today's episode we spend a good 26 minutes ripping on this piece of garbage. Mike gives his first 0 rating. Fans of this series should miss this episode. 

We're back with a short episode reviewing Hanks, Streep, and Spielberg's The Post. We were definitely underwhelmed. We talk about the expectations for a film with such an all star crew, the great acting performances, and the film's inability to pick one theme and stick with it. 

Mike's flying solo on this episode after watching The Cloverfield Paradox and declaring it so bad an "emergency podcast" was needed. Have a listen at Mike ripping on what may be the worst movie ever released directly after the Super Bowl.
