In today’s episode, we will be exploring a growing focus on the importance of communication in the workplace and how several Ivy Tech initiatives are meeting that need through an intentional focus on increasing workplace skills throughout our students’ academic experiences.
Lisa Hamrick is a robotics student at Ivy Tech Evansville. Lisa was recognized in February 2019 as an Indiana Department of Education Awards for Excellence recipient. Lisa discusses her chosen academic field, the influence of her education on her kids, and how she has connected her passion for enabling technology with her course work.

The Student Success Commitments were endorsed by the Student Government Association President’s Council, Faculty Council, Executive Council, Vice Chancellors for Academic Affairs, Vice Chancellor of Enrollment Services, and Vice Chancellors of Student Success, and now that they have been approved, the adoption and implementation of these commitments will require every faculty member, staff, and student to be exposed to the commitments on a regular basis.
Dr. Marcus Kolb, who is coordinating Ivy Tech’s efforts for our ten year reaffirmation visit talks about why accreditation matters, the process we’ve used so far, the logistics we know today for the visit, and what the next steps are as our community prepares for this visit.
