In this coaching call episode, I am joined by Taylor Carretti, a Speech-Language Pathologist with experience in Early Intervention, Pediatric Clinic, and Public School settings. She is also the IEP Coordinator for Los Alamos Public Schools. Taylor has some AAC experience but is eager to learn more about it and its best practices.  She also needs guidance on how to best train the staff that are working with her student and is finding ways to help her school district. In this podcourse, I am joined by Michelle Therrien, a professor at Florida State University whose research interests include connection building – supporting social interaction and friendship for individuals who use AAC, bringing researchers and practitioners together to support the use of evidence-based practices in schools and communities, and forming interdisciplinary collaborations to increase participation of individuals who use AAC in their communities. In this podcourse, I am joined by Kate McLaughlin, a Speech-Language Pathologist specializing in augmentative communication for children with complex communication needs.  She is passionate about supporting children and families on their journey to autonomous communication. She is a certified member of the American Speech-Language and Hearing Association and holds licensure as a speech-language pathologist in the state of Connecticut, USA.  Kate is in private practice in Connecticut providing direct therapy and consultative services for individuals with complex communication needs.  Kate is the creator of an online course on AAC called Authentic AAC: Implementing Communication Systems for Autonomy & Connection. On this episode I am joined by Meera Raval Deters, a board certified SLP , Telepractice Specialist, Advanced Certified Autism Specialist, and Specialist in Child Language through ASHA. Meera is also the owner of Super Speech Solutions, a concierge private practice that provides online Speech Therapy to Texans. She helps children and adults improve their speech and language skills so that they can communicate better. She has worked in a variety of settings including hospitals, skilled nursing facilities, inpatient/outpatient rehabilitation clinics, charter schools, and private practices over the past fourteen years.  Meera specializes in accent modification and child language disorders, with an emphasis on children who have autism.  When she is not thinking about speech, Meera loves to spend time with her husband Jeff, cook, watch Hallmark movies, and go on walks with their dog, Daisy.
