Wyatt Harper and Matt Schoenfeldt are joined this week by Tim Garland who is a School of Advanced Military Studies (SAMS) graduate, famously referred to as Jedi Knights by GEN Schwarzkopf. We explore how the course came to light, what are the benefits, how you gain entrance, and many more topics. It is very interesting to hear Tim talk in detail on how the Army prepares our Strategic Planners and what he learned in the course.

This will be the first in a series that we will dip into between hosting other guests through out the Army. Matt had six stories outlined out to tell this episode and the guys only managed to cover three of them. We hope you enjoy the details and the tie into what was happening in Baghdad in 2004-05. The three main stories covered are a Relief in Place (RIP) with a complex ambush, a burning tank in Baghdad, and stories of VBIED scenes.

Matt Schoenfeldt and Wyatt Harper are joined by WO1 Julian DeJesus, who is an Electronic Warfare (EW) Tech for a Combat Aviation Brigade. We discuss in detail the evolution of Electronic Warfare and the three elements; EW Attack, EW Protection, and EW Support. We also talk about EW integration at unit level and with the new Cyber Branch. The process of how he became a Warrant Officer is also an interesting story he shares with us.

Matt Schoenfeldt and Wyatt Harper are joined by LTC Mike Barnett, who is the 8th Army Knowledge Manager. We discuss how the Army goes through the whole process from acquisition, capture, organization, storage, sharing, and application of knowledge. Mike takes us through the Human Dimensions and Technical Dimensions, and the Army KM concept of People, Process, and Tools as a bridge for information for the Organization. At the end Mike also shares a story from an experience at Tank Gunnery.
