Tom Rowland Podcast

Tom Rowland and Matt Lawson have a shared interest and experience with SEALFit Kokoro, a 50+ hour training experience that is modeled after the U.S. Navy Seals’ “Hell Week”. Rowland and Lawson have both used their experiences with training and participating in these high-intensity programs to improve and enrich every aspect of their lives, especially in regard to family and business.

Bill Dance is the fishing legend. The first time I met Bill Dance he was unbelievably nice and helpful. Every time I see him he rushes over and gives me a giant bear hug and asks about everything, "Where's the Toot?" (Asking about my partner). He is a shining example of a high quality individual and it is no wonder why he has been so successful.

Tim Crockett has a strong Military background.  As a UK Soldier who served in the Special Boat Service (SBS), he has spent most of his life on, under or near the water.  He is going to draw heavily on this experience when he takes on his next challenge, the Talisker Whisky Atlantic Challenge.  This race is a 3000+ mile crossing of the Atlantic Ocean in a rowboat.  Tim will will do it alone in his 20 foot boat called, Tame The Kraken and raise money for soldiers struggling with PTSD.  

Jason Stemple grew up in a small farming town in Massachusetts, and his early fishing experiences were fly fishing with his dad. Listen in to hear Rowland and Stemple swap stories about their first nerve-wracking experiences as fishing guides and how Stemple’s wide range of experiences during his time in Colorado shaped his career into what it is today.

Frank Smethurst is a revered fly fisherman and guide whose passion for the sport began at a very early age. He began tying his own flies at age eight, starting working at The Fish Hawk by age 12, and eventually moved to Colorado to launch his career as a guide. Join Rowland and Smethurst as they look back on their last fishing trip together in The Marquesas and share their thoughts on the most difficult fish to catch a various parts of the world.

Miles Burghoff is an accomplished tournament bass fisherman and co-host of Sweetwater Fishing TV with Joey Nania. While Sweetwater is primarily a bass fishing show, they also tackle all kinds of freshwater fish. Tom Rowland met Burghoff because he was recommended to Rowland as a potential host for a freshwater fishing show.

Dr. Joe Martin is an award-winning international speaker, author, and educator. Martin has authored or co-authored several books and was voted National Speaker of the Year by the Association for the Promotion of Campus Activities. Chasten Whitfield has devoted her life to helping others...through fishing.  She was a guest on Saltwater Experience and then I sat down with her for this podcast. We discussed how she began helping children who are terminally ill, or disadvantaged in some way by taking them fishing.  I learned how she copes with doing things differently than most 17 year olds, and where she is in her journey.
