Episode 218 - The Xbox Series X Gaming Showcase

The day has come folks! Our resident RPG hater has come around and seen the light. Dan loves the FFVII Remake, both of your hosts do. It's an amazing remake, perhaps the best and they discuss at the top of the show. In the news, Ubisoft announces a viking themed Assassin's Creed game, Geoff Keighley has a massive game fest planned for the summer and the summer GDC is now going all digital.

We're getting dangerously close to what would be E3 time and the rumors keep swirling. Sony is rumored to reveal more on the PS5 come may, Metroid Prime Trilogy remake gets leaked and Google Stadia plans to have a presentation as this episode drops. All that and Reggie swoops in to fix Gamestop and get them back on track.

At the top of the show, some said news last week. Voice actors from Resident Evil and Star Fox franchises pass. Also, Microsoft is possibly planning 2 events to display the Series X games and system and get fans hype, a Crysis remaster announced and Resident Evil 4 may get yet another remake for current or next gen consoles. All that and Dave completes more games in his collection.

In the wake of the current pandemic, Dan and Dave tell stories of how they are learning to cope when staying indoors. Dave's got some grief toward Doom Eternal and Dan recovers from being under the weather. Both Microsoft and Sony drop us some numbers on their next generation consoles. Rated G compares the numbers side by side and see how they stack up. Also, Microsoft gives some YouTubers some hands on time with the new console and we get to see some of the new features like ray tracing and automatic HDR support for current gen and older games! And in our last segment, we have a returning guest Derek Lieu on the show to talk about his work on the Half-Life Alyx trailer.

In efforts to curtail the virus from spreading, the US is tightening up measures like preventing large gatherings like E3 from happening. Dan and Dave discusses what will be of this years showcase and what it means for the future of E3. Also in the news, Reggie Fils-Amie is hired to Gamestop's board of directors,  a new Tony Hawk game is in the works and 2K looks to be bringing it's football franchise back but with a twist.

Alright folks, you know they gotta talk about it. Right after returning from PAX East, Square-Enix drops the demo for the remake of the one of the most influential games of all time. Final Fantasy VII. Dan and Dave give their opinions and break it all down. Also in the news, more conference cancellations, Google Stadia nabs another star director and the Nintendo Playstation sells for an underwhelming price.
