Kristen Gilbert was a nurse who committed at least four murders at a VA hospital in Massachusetts. But, authorities believe she could be responsible for many more deaths, maybe upwards of one hundred. Kenneth McDuff was a Texas serial killer known as “the broomstick killer.” In 1966 he murdered three innocent teenagers. Much to the public’s horror, he was released on parole in 1989. On July 17th, 1983 Sandy Bird, a wife, and mother of three died in a tragic car accident when her vehicle ran off a bridge and fell down an embankment. The police initially declared her death an accident, but a more thorough investigation revealed an affair and a failed murder-for-hire plot. Marc Dutroux was a Belgian serial killer and child rapist. In 1989 Dutroux was convicted of five sexual assaults and sentenced to thirteen years in prison. He only served three years. Over the next four years, he kidnapped and raped young girls, some of whom he murdered. He had several accomplices, including his own wife. The case led to speculation about inefficiency and corruption in Belgian law enforcement and politics. Saeed Hanaei was an Iranian serial killer who murdered sixteen women in 2000 and 2001. He targeted female sex workers who were vulnerable and had no legal protection. Jake Bird was known by the media as "The Tacoma Ax-Killer." He was arrested and charged with two murders and convicted of one. But, Bird claimed that he murdered many more.
