For those of us who were there at the start, when we hear the word 'heritage,' we think of Heritage Square Theme Park and over a decade of issues as our little church grew up there. The church isn't a building, it is a body of believers; it's the people who are the church. We are those people and regardless of the building we meet in, we are still Red Rocks Church. Throughout this series, we are going to talk about how there are seasons and situations in our lives that God can use to teach us great lessons, if we are willing to listen and keep our eyes focused on Jesus Christ. So whether you were here in the beginning or this is your very first week, allow God to speak to you about your own life as we look for the lessons that God might be trying to teach us.

In this week's message, Jill talked about the strength of God, the tenderness, and protection of God. She talked about how we all have major disappointments, heartbreaks, hurts, fears in life and how many of us struggle with just simply feeling that we are unlovable. God beckons us to come to him because he wants to lead us, protect us, and shepherd us like sheep that are the apple of his eye.

We have all had those crossroads. The Lord has called us to move forward, to move in obedience, and we freeze in fear and doubt. The irony is, we so badly want to hear from the Lord that we will spend hours in prayer asking for direction, and when we finally receive it; we often resist or become fearful of what we don't understand. Yet, we must choose to focus and believe on what is set before us. We are meant to live glorious (full of glory) lives full of the destiny that the Lord placed within us before we were born. We are loved by too powerful of a God to not enlist in the life he desperately wants for us.

This birth was prophesied hundreds and hundreds of years in advance. Within this singular prophecy, the Lord wove in many more prophecies and miracles. We live in a culture where doubt is a form of apathy. This story sounds too good to be true, and so for many it remains just that, a good story, and the incredible implications for us go unrealized.

God's church is not a building; it is the people of God that make up the church. A membership class will not make someone a member. A member is someone who has a relationship with Jesus Christ and is fully engaged in the life God has called them to alongside other believers. It is a family to be a part of, not something we sign up for. Just like any family, we enjoy each other's friendship, encourage one another, argue at times, sit at the table, and apologize and find ways to help serve our brothers and sisters in Christ. At Red Rocks Church we believe in the family of God. All of us have a place at the table thanks to what Jesus Christ has done for us. We don't build the church; God builds the church and calls us to play a part using our God-given abilities, resources and time to run the one and only race that matters. We get to do Kingdom work and invite others to join the family that they have always been longing for.
