The Sons of Schmidt: Episode 11 | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 3984

College football began at the State University of New Jersey. On that cold November day in 1869, Rutgers defeated Princeton 6-4 in what I am sure was a barn burner. Since then? It’s mostly been all downhill for the Scarlet Knights. However, when you are among the top teams in the Big Ten, and you have things you need to work on within your own team, Rutgers is exactly what you want to see next on the schedule. This week, The Sons of Schmidt prepare you for Ohio State’s matchup with Rutgers. This is Season 2, Episode 11, of The Sons of Schmidt Podcast. Mike and Brandon are once again joined be Michael Citro. The 3 Sons take a look at the positives and negatives to come out of the UNLV game, and Ohio State’s nice win over the Rebels. The SoSers recap the UNLV game, along with both the good and bad to come out of it. There were a lot of new names and faces to see the field this week, along with a lot of things that needed to be worked on. We saw improvement on offense. We saw improvement on defense. We also saw things that clearly need to be addressed. How does Ohio State solidify the pass defense? What has to happen to get a steady receiving corps of Mack, Hill, and Campbell on the field at the same time? And, thanks to the overwhelming response from last week, all three guys take their turns on the Son of a Schmidt! segment to end the show. Remember you can send comments and questions to SonsOfSchmidt@gmail.com. The Breakdown: 0:50 – The Opening 4:06 – 1st Quarter – Recapping the UNLV Game 18:04 – 2nd Quarter – The Kevin Wilson Offensive Experience 32:54 – 3rd Quarter – The Silver Bullets 49:13 – 4th Quarter – UNLV Prediction time! 58:22 – Overtime – Son of a SCHMIDT!

The Sons of Schmidt: Episode 10 | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 4351

The University of Las Vegas. The school in Sin City that’s biggest contribution to America is being Guy Fieri’s alma mater. This week, the Rebels also have something else to add to their hat. For it was the week they were set to face off with The Ohio State University Buckeyes that marked the return of one of the best podcasters in OSU media history back onto the podcast scene. This week, we are proud to announce that Michael Citro has joined The Sons of Schmidt for a show that kicks off what will be a regular appearance. We are ecstatic to have Michael on this week, to get him back on the airwaves for you, our fans. We don’t have a set schedule of the length or time of the appearances Michael will make moving forward, but you can expect to hear him more times than not for the rest of the 2017 season. The SoS show starts this week taking a high-level look at last weekend’s game against Army West Point. As mentioned last week, there were clearly issues that need to be addressed on both sides of the ball. How did Urban Meyer and company do in addressing them? In segment two, the three Sons look at the Silver Bullets, and how they performed against Army. They also take a look at how the defense stacks up against UNLV. During the third quarter, the guys address the offense. What improvements were made from OU to Army? What should we expect to see more of moving forward? Who will be the featured offensive weapons this week and the rest of the season? FOUR!!!! In the 4th segment, the SoS crew makes their predictions again for who will be the players of the game for both sides of the ball, and give an uneducated game prediction. As we have a new member of the team joining us this week, we went into overtime too. Not only did we get you a little extra Buckeye football talk this week, but we introduced our “Son of a Schmidt!” segment for the overtime period. What one thing is bugging each guy about college football right now? You can hear it here. Lastly, thanks again to Michael Citro for coming on this week. You can follow him on twitter at @Mike36fan.

Tony Gerdeman is joined by producer Shannon Sommers as they discuss the world of Ohio State football. Other things are discussed as well, like problems with the defense, the possibility of a fractured locker room, and much more.

The Sons of Schmidt: Episode 9 | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 3927

U! G! L! Y! Can The Sons of Schmidt find an Ohio State alibi? It’s time for reflection to figure out what went wrong against Oklahoma for the Buckeyes. Brandon was in Columbus this week to watch the game live, so Mike had to bring in a special guest host this week for episode 9 of The Sons of Schmidt Podcast on the Ozone Radio Network. The SoS show starts this week taking a high-level look at what went wrong versus the Sooners. There are clearly issues that need to be addressed, from the coaching staff down to who plays. What can be done to address these fatal flaws and can the Buckeyes get them corrected before Big Ten play resumes in a couple weeks? During the second quarter, the guys look long and hard at the defensive side of the ball. The issues with the defensive backs gets addressed. And there is a call out for a true leader to step up and take over the Silver Bullets, 2017 edition. For segment three, we do the exact same thing to address the offensive woes that Ohio State seems to be dealing with. Where is Mike Weber? What is going on with the wide receivers? How do you help J.T. Barrett lead this team to another Big Ten Championship? Like everyone else, in segment four, the Sons put the Oklahoma game to rest and turn their focus to Army. The Knights run an offense that shares common characteristics with Ohio State, but their triple option is an entirely different beast. Should the Buckeyes be on upset alert? We make out predations for the players of the game and pick winners. The Breakdown: 0:50 – The Opening 7:16 – 1st Quarter – OU takeaways – Overview of the Buckeyes’ issues from Saturday 25:14 – 2nd Quarter – Silver Bullets and fixing the issues OU exposed 36:14 – 3rd Quarter – Offensive issues and corrections moving forward 51:08 – 4th Quarter – Army Prediction time! 1:01:51– The Final Gun

Silver Bullets Podcast Episode 7 Sooner Rather than Later | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 4196

Hosts Shannon Sommers and Chip Minnich get together and do a quick recap of the Indiana game. Shannon thanks the Indiana fans for their "Overrated" chant. Brooke Pryor from the Daily Oklahoman was kind enough to discuss the Oklahoma Sooners with the guys. She discussed Bob Stoops stepping down, Lincoln Riley taking over and if he had any changes in philosophy he might have. She believes the best option if the big 12 were to implode is having Texas and Oklahoma join the Big Ten. Brooke and Chip talked about TE Mark Andrews and any matchup problems he might create for the Buckeyes. Does Oklahoma have any running backs like Mixon and Perine or is it a running back by committee. They discussed DL Neville Gallimore a player Ohio State recruited but chose Oklahoma. Also, they talked about and changes in demeanor in Riley since he's the head coach. Shannon and Brooke then talk about the Sooners defense along with the change from having three down lineman to now having four. The battle of The Ohio State defensive line against the Oklahoma offensive line. Both are arguably the best two in the nation. Also, Brooke helps clear up the statement that Oklahoma offensive lineman Orlando Brown made about Ohio States defensive line is like Kansas. After Brooke gives us her thoughts on what could happen Saturday for the game the guys go into their game predictions. Shannon is down two games to Chip but then he goes and picks three different games as Chip. Could there be a big swing seeing Shannon take over the lead or go five games down? There was a question asked for the guys they answered.  The Sons of Schmidt: Basic Podcast #8 | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 4382

The basic return of The Sons of Schmidt is here! Oklahoma Hate Week has officially started after the long weekend for the Buckeyes. Mike and Brandon are leading the charge back to Columbus for the Ozone Radio Network, with episode 8 of the Sons of Schmidt podcast. We start off the show on a somber note. As many of our listening faithful knows, there was no episode 7 of the show. Mike lives in the Houston, Texas metro area, and had a few things he had to take care of last week. Instead of the normal banter, the show starts with an update on how things are going in Southeast Texas after the devastation caused by Hurricane Harvey. We also have a few places where people can support the region’s rebuilding efforts, like JJ Watt’s fundraising drive. We are happy to report that other than missing an episode and some relatively speaking minor damage, Mike and his family are okay. They have a lot of work to do, as does the entire area, but Texas will rebuild. I am putting the challenge out though, to Buckeye Nation, to show the country that we have the best damn heart in the land, and to support your neighbors on the Texas Gulf Coast. And I personally thank you all for everything you may have done already. In segment two, the guys get back to talking football. Brandon and Mike look at the Ohio State defense and in particular, the defensive backfield, and their play against Indiana. Even through the Buckeyes left Bloomington with a win, is there reason for concern as they match up with the high-powered Sooners offense? The SoS guys flip the script in the third segment, and look into the production of the Ohio State offense. There is discussion on how the offense looked in Bloomington, and what we can expect to see in Ohio Stadium on Saturday. We make our predictions in segment four. Brandon and Mike give you their picks for this week’s offensive and defensive MVPs, and take a stab at who wins and by what score.

Silver Bullets Podcast Episode 6 Indiana Hoosiers Preview Contenders or Pretenders | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 4242

Hosts Shannon Sommers are joined by Zach Osterman (@zachosterman) of the IndyStar to discuss the Indiana Hoosiers.  They first discuss Kevin Wilson termination from being Indiana's head coach. Could there be any blowback to the Ohio State program. Was Indiana being proactive or justified in his removal? Chip asks about if there is any word on Hoosiers wide receiver Simmie Cobb being suspended or active for the game.  Chip and Zach discussed Tom Allen's path to becoming the head coach at Indiana and if his defensive philosophy would change any from running a 4-2-5 defense. Also if there could be any changes in their offense since Mike Debord is the new offensive coordinator coming from Tennesse. Will there be a running back by committee? Shannon and Zach talk about the defensive line for the Hoosiers along with the strength of their linebackers and defensive backfield. The Hoosiers offensive line matching up against possibly the nations best defensive line of the Buckeyes. Will Indiana negate the Buckeyes speed with quick passes? Will Tom Allen concentrate more on trying to get better in the trenches which are a weak area for them? Shannon discusses the situation in Texas. Text REDCROSS to 90999 if you can to help out. Shannon and Chip give their predictions on some of this weekends slate of games. If you would like to take part in the show feel free to use #AskSilverBullets on Twitter. Send your questions to silverbulletspodcast@gmail.com or if you would like to hear your voice on the show feel free to leave a voicemail at (567) 203-5705. The guys released their Big Ten East Preview which you can go back and listen to (didn't do a post). Brett Ciancia of PixSixPreviews joins to discuss how they all feel the strongest division in the nation will possibly shake out.
