Happy New Year! Best wishes to you and a story from the time I wanted to get good at photography but did not get anywhere. Are you sometimes making photography too complicated for yourself. Keep it simple by using the GL Method: https://glmethod.info
Yesterday, a faux pas happened to me when posting a Youtube video. I hope, I fixed that in time :-) Here is the video: https://youtu.be/CoLLCYOKEgI
The polarizer is the only filter that you can not easily simulate in Photoshop. So far I have never had the idea to apply this filter to faces, for example at weddings. Today I share where I learned most of the techniques that we use at Good Light Academy to make our photographers successful. The book that I mention in the podcast is this: Peak By Anders Ericsson and Robert Pool If you like to learn more about the academy please send me an email with the subject "Academy" to michael@goodlightmag.com I wish you good light! Michael
Can I control my old iTTL flash with my new iTTL radio controller? And does the lens of my old Sony alpha fit on my new Sony alpha? For many camera and accessory questions, I would like manufacturers and third-party vendors to use much clearer product names and product descriptions. What's your opinion on that?
Today I wonder if it makes a difference for us amateur photographers, whether we switch from DSLR to mirrorless immediately or next year or in 10 years.
Today I share why I think that books with many lighting setups are great, but we usually learn little from them. That's what I want to bring across, even though we just released the latest edition of our Lighting Notebook with 200 great lighting setups: http://sites.fastspring.com/zelbel/product/lightingnotebook
Today it's about how to grow as a photographer. This may have to do with flash painting, but not necessarily. In any case, I would like to highly recommend a specific approach to you. I see with my students that this works far better than any other. As photographers and videographers, we have the superpowers to communicate visually. And that works! Here's an example of how I used it when chatting with a beautiful friend on WhatsApp.
Since I get nearly no feedback for my photos, I stopped improving my photography. But I would love to improve. You? And if you would give me feedback on the podcast in the form of a rating, it would make my day: https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/it-made-click/id830730441?mt=2&ls=1
Today I share three experiences I made in the last few days. These have shown me that my "never touch" rule for nude photography does not always have to be the one and only correct rule. Find the replay of the snap I mention in the podcast here: https://vimeo.com/user19124836/review/241341353/04c8273576 I wish you good light! Michael
Today is an example of how I use photography to make the life of my wife and me more happy and playful. The key to this is that I usually approach challenges with a very relaxed mindset. I say to myself: Just have fun with it. One of the outcomes is the theme of today's episode. The BW Challenge: https://www.facebook.com/MichaelZelbel/photos/a.245584879085.139205.56155629085/10155299799254086/?type=3 Our snap about the jacuzzi: http://emilyandmichael.tv/mini-spa
I often teach the Good Light method of portrait photography. On level 1 of that method, for example, the photographer photographs all portraits with the aperture f/2.8. But that does not mean that I think this aperture is "the correct" aperture. Here is my video answer to a photographer, who suggested to me stop down: https://www.facebook.com/MichaelZelbel/videos/10155288564329086/
Hello from China! We are here to buy furniture. But of course, we use opportunity to take a few pictures of a friend. I am not always prepared for the wishes of them. Then the outcome is kind of limited at times :-) Here my first snap from the photo shooting: http://www.goodlightmag.com/portrait-at-table-in-hotel I'll post more, but maybe just directly on SnapChat: https://www.snapchat.com/add/michaelzelbel
