I've been there many times. I tried to photograph an impressive model in a fantastic scene, and it just didn't work. Reasons for that are plenty, but that doesn't help when you are in that situation. Trying to force it won't help either. I think the only appropriate reaction is to tell the model that you are done with this scene, she was awesome, and now the two of you move on to the next scene.

On the photos that I showed you when talking about photographers modeling for each other, you saw a 2nd model besides the photographer I was working with. Right, it's my model. I think, why not going all in and not only model for each other but also sharing our models? This way we open up a ton of options, and it's a lot of fun!

If you want to get more of your important things done, then the easiest way to achieve this is making small changes to your environment in a way that supports you doing your "big" things. This is much more effective than trying to build up you energy levels or training your willpower or similar. Best of all, you can do it right away.

What can happen if you don't make a model release or at least not the right model release? This can cost you a ton of money years after the shoot even if you never do anything with the unreleased photos.

It's a simple change that you can make right now, which might add a couple of healthy years to your back. Chances are your back will be healthy and strong instead of weak with chronic back pain. Even when you get old, you will be able to hold your camera in your hand during your photo shoots without breaking your back. But there is more to it. Working at your standing desk will make you more energetic for the things you do.

I think there is no light modifier that fuels more misconceptions than the deep octabox. I don't mean that it is a poor modifier, just that many photographers believe this thing could do things for them which it just won't deliver. I don't want you to waste money on something that does not serve you. That's why I share with you why I did not use the deep octa so far.

Here's another source of TfP models that gets often overlooked: Clients. The best of all, they don't even have to be your clients. How about clients of a make-up artist, hairdresser or similar that you have a cooperation with?

We photographers tend to believe blindly in new concepts that we came up with. Without testing anything we pump time and money into a big, complex photo shoot that is supposed to deliver on our latest idea. How about we test this idea first?

We photographers love good old desktop websites with fullscreen photos of us. The rest of the world couldn't care less because they are living in Facebook and Instagram on their phone. So make sure you are present on the favorite platform of your target audience and keep your nice website simply for nostalgia.

I know, automatic skin retouching is never the real deal. But there are two types of situations in which a plug-in for skin retouch brings benefit to me every single time. One is when a client needs photos right after the photo shoot. The other is when I shoot video footage of a woman.

When you compose your image according to this rule, more often than not you will end up with a pleasant result. But it's the RULE of 3rds, not the LAW of 3rds. There is also an infinite amount of photos with compositions that do not follow this rule but that work beautifully. When it comes to turning a photo hobby into a business then I see photographers coming up with various business goals that all backfire on them in the process. Keep it simple. Your goal is to make your first $ with photography. This attainable goal makes it more likely that you go the extra mile that is necessary. rewarding your success with a dopamine-hit. This in turn makes it more likely that you build on your initial success and scale it up in a follow up project.

How come I can spot PhotoShop mistakes in the photos of our Facebook group members but they cannot see these mistakes in their own images? That's because I give my screen a chance to show me all the details in the highlights and shadows of images that exist in the photo. For that, I keep my room rather dark. Would I turn on all room lights then I would not be able to see the details anymore.
