On June 1, 1993, 32 year old Norma Rodriguez was found murdered in her home by her ex-husband. The case went cold for 10 years, that is, until DNA testing improved. On the night of September 3rd, 1944, Recy Taylor was walking home from church when she was approached by a car full of 7 white men. They forced her at gun point to get into the vehicle and then drove her to "the spot" where they proceeded to brutally rape her. Being a black woman in the Jim Crow era, Recy knew the consequences if she spoke out against her attackers but she refused to stay silent. On August 8, 2013, Derek Medina and his 27 year old wife, Jennifer Alfonso, got into an altercation. Their relationship was so toxic that this seemed like another one of their same old arguments, that is, until Derek pulled a gun out on Jennifer and then shot her. Ernesto Miranda had lived a life of crime since he was young. But all of that ceased when he was arrested for the umpteenth time. This arrest would lead to one of the most significant changes in rules regarding the handling of arrests & police interrogations.
